Time waits for no man. And the thief of always will steal tomorrow from your grasp…
Sadly the thoughts of tomorrow never coming were becoming more real with each passing minute. Shivers wracked the young woman’s body, bare skin exposed to the extreme cold, and she could almost swear the air in her lungs was freezing with each breath. Chandon was forced into a crack in the glacier due to a snow storm. She had been trying to leave the area but of course got lost in the snow. Just her luck of course; pulling her knees up closer to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. Inwardly she was cursing herself for her lack of clothing.
How could she have been as so foolish as to forget to steal some winter weather gear!? Pretty foolish it seemed since now she was freezing her ass off. “St-st-stupid…” Her teeth chattered as she spoke before she buried her face in her knees. Blowing out as much warm air as she could to thaw her face; it was a wonder she didn’t have frost bite yet. Heck it was wonder she wasn’t dead yet after being there for, what was it? An hour or two now? It felt like it in her opinion…
Outside of the safety of her shelter the snowstorm had let up enough to where you could actually see but she wasn’t going to leave. If she did she’d die quicker. Oh Gaia I’m going to die! The blonde thought in despair as a colder feeling settled in her gut. The realization of how bad the situation really was.
Her only hope was for someone to find her if the storm stopped, but even if they did would she be able to cling to life that long? It would be hard to especially since she was beginning to feel sleepy…No, can’t sleep. I..might not…wake…up.. Chandon was losing the battle as her eyes started to get heavy, her limbs growing numb, and she was on the verge of hypothermia.
“I can’t die. Not yet.”

"GRAAAA!"the angry yowl was muted by the screaming wind, but was still easily distinguishable. H-h-how the h-hell c-c-can it be s-s-s-so cold-d-d?" Usagi complained through violently chattering teeth. Her blue lips pressed togeather in a thin, disapproving line. The thick bundle of white fur surrounding the beast tamer did little to block out the bitter cold. Surely, there was some shelter nearby?
Something caught her stinging eyes, but surely they were playing tricks on her? How could anyone be out here besides her? The girl's thick fur coat bulged, and out popped a little orange... head? The fox nestled safely within Usagi's heavy-duty cloths looked up at her with wide, innocent eyes.
"mrr?" whined the little creature.
"W-what? Yeah, I s-see it t-t-too."
"yip, yip!"
"A g-ghost? You're cr-razy!"
Pressing through the snow, the brunette made her way (very slowly) over to the other. Her suspicions were confirmed, there was someone out here! By the looks of it, this girl was worse of than she. "Oh, you p-poor thing!" She cried, kneeling by the practically frozen female. One thing was certain, she needed to get her out of the open, into some sort of shelter. Grunting, she made an attempt to drag the unconcious -- she wasn't sure -- girl over to the nearest form of shelter from the snarling winds: a cluster of rocks. There was just enough room between them to wedge her and the stranger underneath. "D-don't you dare d-d-die!"

Chandons’ senses were dulling greatly it was almost like her body was shutting down, and…in a way it actually was. Lifting her head just a bit she peered up over her arms but kept the rest of her face protected. What was that…? She thought groggily, blinking slowly; she had thought she had heard something. No her mind must have just been playing tricks on her…Wonderful I’m getting delirious. The strawberry blonde thought sarcastically and once again hid her face.
Sleep sounded so good right now, but there was no guarantee that she’d wake up later, and that scared her. She was already barely conscious right now and couldn’t feel the cold anymore; too far past that stage. Though again the thief thought she heard something but it seemed like too much effort to lift her head again to look.
And without even knowing it her eyes had slipped closed, just when the other person got to her side and it didn’t even register in her brain that she was being moved. Chandon was still breathing though and remained semi conscious; she just was completely numb. “No…won’t…can’t.” Without thinking she ended up answering after being told not to die and with some difficulty she forced her eyes open, if only half way.

Relief flooded over Usagi like a wave when she heard the frozen stranger mumble almost inaudibly. "Hah! Don't be silly, this isn't a time to relax!" she scolded herself. "Hey, Momo!" she called to the animal nestled in her jacket, "M-make y-y-y-yourself useful and d-dig out the sn-now between those r-rocks."
Her familiar gave a growl of protest, but hopped out of her jacket, struggling not to be blown away by the angry storm. Little white wings flapped desperately as the she-fox regained her footing in the deep snow that came up to her belly... it would have been a humorous site if they weren't trying to save someone's life. Little black paws scratched at the powdery white snow, working busily to clear the way. With moments to spare, the animal had cleared a path.
"Good job, g-girl..." Usagi muttered and climbed into the makeshift 'den'. She turned around and pulled the strawberry blond into the shelter. She sacrificed her coat grudgingly, and placed it over the stranger. "w-where's f-f-fire materia when you need it, eh?" she chuckled without humor.

Reaching up a near frozen hand the thief rubbed her eyes; was she seeing things? There was another person by her side and they were…helping her? I thought a person only saw things when they were dying of heat not freezing to death! Well at least this gave her brain something to think about instead of shutting down. “Cute…” Chandon commented after getting her eyes focused enough to look from her savior to their companion; the winged fox.
That was something you didn’t see everyday. She didn’t know what it was doing though but looked back at the other girl once the fox had finished. The blonde tried her best to move, instead of just being dead weight, but her body didn’t want to do as her brain commanded. And her eyes closed again while a small frown formed on blue lips, “Materia is bad.” Was her opinion on the comment of fire materia. She was too stubborn with that subject even if it could help them.
But from the jacket being placed on her nearly frozen body the numbness let up enough to where she could actually feel it. A tired sigh escaped her…and her eyes remained closed, “Thanks…are you real…?” Stupid question but Chandon wanted to be sure that this wasn’t just wishful thinking and that it was the real thing.

Usagi sighed in relief, so she was awake, that was good. Very good, in fact. She hugged her legs tightly to her chest in a pitiful attempt to retain some body heat. The beast tamer chuckled at the stranger's question, maybe she should play along, just for kicks? Naw. "Let's hope I'm real, for your sake," she chuckled her reply, forcing a smile onto her frozen face, "I'm glad you're awake."
Momo, now particularly interested in this stranger that they happened to come upon, approached cautiously. Her lapis blue eyes were bright with intelligent curiosity. "Yap, yap?" the little, winged creature asked curiously, of course, impossible to understand.
(short, sorry. I have to go to the eye doctor in a few minuets, so I didn't have time.)

(that’s alright)
Chandon just barely caught the humor and the corners of her mouth quirked into a weak smile. But there still was the ‘what if’ factor. “Let’s just hope I stay awake…” She mumbled, since she was still struggling to keep herself conscious. Luckily, slowly yet surely, the numbness was fading and she felt cold but with some warmth from the jacket. She hoped now that the other girl wouldn’t freeze in her place.
Now though after hearing the fox, since she doubted the other made that sort of sound, she managed to peek one eye open at it. “Eh? What?” Was it trying to talk to her? That’s silly animals can’t talk. The thief reminded herself.

Wild, golden eyes flashed with a new wave of humor, "If you do, I'll have to slap you till you wake up!" she laughed. She needed to keep this stranger awake, so she thought of trying to start conversation, "What were you doing out here? Oh, I'm Usagi, by the way; Usagi Yasei!" she jabbed her thumb at her chest animatedly, the pointed towards her vixen familiar, "And that's Momo."
Meanwhile, Momo seemed quite ticked by this strangers inability to understand her. She had always been used to Usagi being able to understand her so well it was practically as if she were speaking English. Pointed black ears folded themselves tightly against her skull so it seemed almost as if she were pouting.
"Now, Momo, be nice!" Usagi scolded in a tone similar to what she would use when scolding a young child. She turned her head to look at her four-legged friend, the scar distorting one side of her face clearly visible. The fox grumbled in protest obeyed, lowering her head apologetically... just like a child.

“It wouldn’t work ‘cause I can’t feel my face.” The strawberry blonde nodded to herself after that statement and if she would have felt up to it she would have pinched her face. But it seemed like too much effort to move that much. However she did shift under the jacket, using her frozen limbs to push herself up, and sighed; her breath coming out in a small puff of steam. When introduced afterwards it forced her to open her other eye, glancing from fox to human, “Chandon V’icious. Like the Moet & Chandon alcohol drink brand.” She answered with a tiny smirk.
Chandon always found it kinda funny how her dad, a drunk, named her and her sister after a brand of alcohol. But as for why she was out in the snow the answer was simple, “I took a wrong turn and was trying to find my way back out eh heh…” The thief said sheepishly before she coughed a bit then burrowed down into the jacket. Now she was feeling warmer, still practically a snowman though, but at least she was probably gonna be ok.
Waiting for her face to warm up she just peeked out at them, inwardly laughing at the way the fox acted and smiled to herself. Silly foxy… If she were feeling better she would have liked to cuddle the ball of fur. Though she doubted it would like a stranger to do something like that; she couldn’t help but like Momo, she was cute, and furry and not noisy like chocobos.

How strange. Usagi didn't want to pry into how she got that name, but she was curious. The origin of names told a lot about a person, after all. For example, her name literally translated to "hare", and rightly so. Her personality wasn't all that different from the awkward creatures. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Chandon... even if it is these cercumstances," she chucked.
"We came here to try and find some new beasties to tame, but so far we've had no luck. I think I can lead you back to the nearest town, I brought a map." She twirled around the crumpled piece of paper in her gloved hand proudly, then thought for a moment, "First, we better find you something to eat, I can imagine you're hungry?"

“Likewise but! It’s not all bad meeting like this, since you’ve saved me. So I owe you one Usagi.” Chandon said truthfully and made a mental note not to steal anything from this person. She may have been a thief but usually only took things she needed and did not steal from friends; unless she didn’t know them at first and afterwards became friends. Shaking her head slightly to get rid of confusing thoughts, that made her brain hurt right now, she turned her attention back to Usagi.
Beasts? Tame? That’s weird… She thought to herself, wondering why she would want to tame a beast, it seemed pretty dangerous. “Yay! And yes, please, but just so know I will pay you back for the food.” After saying that, under the jacket, she checked her pocket to make sure she still had some gil; she’d use it to buy food once they got into town. That probably wouldn’t be until the storm had passed.

"Oh, no need for that, it's my... err... treat..." the brunet scratched the back of her head, she was a bit low on money, but her dear mother had always told her not to accept money from anyone. She was in a slight predicament. Seeming almost to read Chndon's mind, Usagi giggled seeming rather proud of herself, "Oh, I'm a beast tamer. I tame beasts for transportation, fighting, you name it!" She was also a mercenary, but she didn't want to talk about that... she wasn't a very good one.
For now though, they would have to lay low. Going outside in such a storm spelled suicide. "I had brought a bit of food, but someone ate it all," the woman growled, casting an accusing stare at the winged fox trotting around the little den, who cringed away at her stair.

The blonde coughed then shrugged a little, “You sure? It’s no big deal I have some extra gil to burn.” She offered again but even if Usagi declined she’d still either buy her some more food or just give her the money for it. Yes this was one of those times where she wouldn’t take no for an answer. Besides, she’d still have plenty left over to get to where she wanted to go.
A Beast Tamer, well now that made more sense but still…it seemed like a dangerous occupation. Chandon was one to talk though; being a thief wasn’t exactly safe either. Nodding she smiled a bit as she looked over at the fox, “Uh oh Momo looks like you’ve been found out.” She spoke to it in a playful manner before she started coughing again.
