He couldn't believe that this place was still reserved under his name. It hadn't been used since his stint with Geostigma; yet his company was still dishing out the cash to keep this room reserved.
Rufus placed a gloved palm to his face.
He was going to seriously have to get rid of everyone who his father had hired before he saw any improvements. What a waste of gil. "Note to self: fire the financial adviser."
The President his index finger over a table as he strode over toward the window. "Tsk. tsk. tsk." Layers of dust clung to his finger. "This will never due."
Rufus pulled the curtains open, letting in as much light as he could. "I think I'll buy this property. Turn it into something useful.....Perhaps a metal hospital for all the super powered freaks The Old Man created. After all, what's the point of a Geostigma treatment center if Geostigma is no longer a threat?"
He chuckled to himself as he strode over to a sofa; removing the tarp that had been laid over it.
"Maybe when my company's back on top again...things like this will be taken care of."

Rufus closed his phone and placed it on the desk beside him. A red pen stuck through the name 'Reno' on a long list of former ShinRa employees. He put out the offer...and that was all he could do for the time being.
Eventually the new ShinRa would rise, with or without them.
"One week...it'll be like a vacation."
Rufus stretched out in his chair and turned on the television.
"Hopefully they don't make me wait too much longer."

Zellie stood in front of the door to the cabin in which Rufus Shinra was staying, biting her lip in a stiff, nervous pose, a plethora of thoughts going through her head. What does he need us for? Will he even need me? I never got to become a Turk due to Meteorfall.... Silently and hesitantly she reached out and knocked on the door.

Costa del Sol is as good a place as any other for one of Rikelus’s rare home-away-from-homes, and better than many others he had previous lived in.. It’s large, sprawling, full of people – exuberant, alive, loud, thrumming with laughter, chatter and sunlight. What was another trip to see Rufus ShinRa other than a couple of hours out of his busy day Eh? So he had left Maji at the beach looming around in the sand, while he traveled east across the sea yet once more heading towards the Healin lodge which was outside of Kalm in the mountains. It was sort of a refugee town used only by the ShinRa company for those high ranking soldiers, Turks, or administration that suffered intense wounds and needed rehab.
It was about two hours before Rikelus arrived at his destination via chopper and his gaze fell upon that of Rufus ShinRa as he crept from a darkened shadow silently. The light eclipsed across his forehead cascading down to his bright burning crimson red eyes which had a bit of a copper hue to them. As he walked out towards the president Rikelus nodded off to him looking at him with a slight squint. He heard a faint knock at the door and the footsteps of the stunning Mr. Deverell thudded against the bottom of the wooden floor.
He blinked twice looking at the female would-be-Turk with sharp crimson red eyes. Rikelus’s face was somewhat puzzling and an odd expression he didn’t expect Rufus to call a female Turk and he had caught him off guard by doing such. She’s looking at me funny…why is she looking at me funny..is it my hair.. Rikelus Deverell looked down and realized he was still in his swimwear, although he had thrown a nineteenth annual ShinRa ball T-shirt on. That’d definitely be a reason to stare..so much for being incognito and un-noticeable. Upon a few seconds of awkwardness he stepped out of the way raising an index finger to swipe a lock of his azure blue hair out of his face, “Excuse my appearance sir, you caught me on vacation.” The scenery of the Healin Lodge was definately a change compared to Costa de Sol. The weather wasn't inexplicably bad; although the air was seemingly thick and had a misty texture to it.

"Interesting choice of attire..." Zellie said her neon green eyes staring at this new person, "Um are you here to meet the president as well?" she asked hesitantly.

His more loyal employee's had begun gathering in his cabin. Surely it would not be long before more arrived.
They would all gather...in time...and rebuild what was once the greatest company in the world; though this time without the use of mako energy. Somehow; ShinRa would repay it's debt to this world.
Cold, blue eyes analyzed the two who had arrived.
From the looks of the girl she was a Junior Turk, much like Elena had been a few years ago. There was time when everyone had to take that next step...and he hoped she was ready. She had to be ready for what he had in store. When he was done with them, the Turks would be more than just ShinRa's go-to guys for dirty jobs...they'd be his personal guard, an elite squad that did more than petty murders...
He had dealt with the man a few times in the past. He was a SOLDIER. Rufus had actually sparred with him when he was trying to pass into the ranks of SOLDIER. Hopefully his strength, like Rufus' had improved over the years. His file said: 'SOLDIER, First Class'...but would that be enough? In this world of super-powered freaks left to him by his old man...Rufus would need more than a single SOLDIER to deal with the other three of his kind.
“Excuse my appearance sir, you caught me on vacation.”
"..."
Rufus wanted to smile. It was quite amusing to see the very under dressed SOLDIER. Funny...and a bit un-nerving. Was this what he wanted to base the future of his company on? A SOLDIER who couldn't even be bothered to put on his uniform when meeting with his President? A disapproving scowl came across his face...he had to be stern with them, even if it was amusing.
Realizing that he was pacing back and forth, Rufus stopped suddenly, standing just in front of his employee's.
"I've called you here today for one reason. If what I heard from Rikelus' message is true...this world is in quite the sorry state. And we, my friends, are responsible for this state." He resumed his pacing. "ShinRa, the world's power for decades...is the reason for the world's greatest problems. Insane SOLDIER's who think they're 'divine', other SOLDIER's who can't even keep track of who they are..." His gaze fell on Rikelus as he spoke of the SOLDIER's.
"...Turks murdering innocents people, robbing innocent people..." His gaze fell on Zelliekitsune.
"...And corrupt official's who would put thousands of people out of a job, just to make a quick gil themselves..." Rufus stared into the mirror for a moment.
"ShinRa...had fallen. It is no more. But like the phoenix, rising from the ashes...so shall we. ShinRa...the world's greatest monster...Will rise once more, saint-like and benevolent. We will heal this land. And correct the mistakes of my father and your predecessors. Fear, Gil...the people don't need to be controlled...they need to be helped."
"We will do so...without the use of mako power...without re-creating the SOLDIER program...The mistakes of my old man, will daunt my Presidency no more."
Stopping his pacing once more, Rufus looked into the eyes of his employee's.
"Together, we can rebuild ShinRa. Together...we can rebuild our world."
His first speech in a long time. It felt good...

"Well....." Zellie said her eyes never moving off of Rufus, "I don't know what to do....I miss the old ShinRa that I adored growing up but.....the ShinRa of Meteorfall disgusted me.....I just don't know what to think." Zellie looked down a broken look on her face as she remembered her days trying to become a Turk.

'This should be good..." Kunsel said as he approached the cabin. i don't understand exactly why im being called here or rather, why i i even bother to come i remember the old shinra it was filled with nothing but corruption so why was it that i answered this call? Walking up the stairs he noticed 3 figures one was of course rufus shinra hmm he hasnt changed much The other two he did not recognize. The first thing he noticed about the two unknown people was that one of them was wearing swim wear now thats my kinda shinra! he thought to himself, the second thing Kunsel noticed was that one of them was female "Jackpot" he said out loud hoping the others wouldnt noticed. He began to straighten his helmet and tighten his gloves apon reaching the top, first impressions are everything he thought to himself.

Rikelus looked over at Zellie moving his hand across the air almost whipping a could breeze across the rustic cabin speaking, “Turks and Soldiers aren’t much different, since fighting is our job. Our entire lives all we’ve done is fight, whether it be waging wars with foreign invaders, amongst terrorist groups who threaten the company and our people. Where’s your pride?
“Soldiers aren’t monsters, or divine beings…were people too..” Rikelus responded folding his arms across his chest chuckling. It’s plain hard, living like this. “Half of the people you speak too, probably go home and make little or no decisions that determine the outcome of your life, or people that you trust’s lives. Soldiers are different…”
“I’ve made a promise to someone once that I’d lead a normal life, I really try; but I just can’t…I’ve lost too much, seen too many things—horrible things that aren’t even in the ShinRa classified filing section. I’ve also done many things that I regret and would give anything to change… I can't go back. At one point I was so fixated on going back to normal, after Nibleheim.. that…I find myself laying awake at night, tangled in sheets and trying to slow the pounding of my heart after another nightmare, that I realize why I can't--I don't have a "normal" to go back to.”
“It’d scare anyone who was “normal” but not me, I’m relieved, because now that I look back upon my past I can't be normal because I never was. It's one less thing to keep me awake at night. No real loss, though, because I have hundreds of other worries to think about such as the safety of the people that we swore to protect. It’s our pride and memories that keep us going. Someday we’ll build a new world where we won’t have to worry about the problems of today..”
”The only thing I miss out of the entire ordeal was the comrades, and painful memories. The painful memories set you apart from a monster, because you still felt empathy for someone in some form or another. Maybe this time, I'll get it right and die trying so I won't have to live in shame afterwards. Surviving the battles and the losses is easy as hell, but coping with the loss of friends, and those you couldn’t protect is what eats you up inside. Waking up every morning and knowing that I’ve made a difference is what matters, I won’t let anyone take that away from me. The thought makes me smile sometimes…”
Indeed Soldier and ShinRa had a bad name just because of a couple of choice people. The hike up the social hierarchy was quick, and unforeseen in Midgar around the time of ShinRa’s golden Era. Businessmen became elitists; the middle-class became the hoity-toity upper crust simply because they were occasionally seen by the poor. The poor struggled and either made their way up to the middle-class long after they could appreciate it, or failed to climb even the bottom rung of that social ladder. Of those people that didn’t have the resources sufficient to boost them up the ladder through legitimate means simply gave up and those who bitterly accepted their fate were forced to action by resentment. Ironically, it was mostly the latter that made it out of the city alive, their paranoia and greed having prepared them mentally and emotionally for all such catastrophes. In the end the poor surpassed the upper classes due to catastrophes.
The elite, upper and middle classes, not having access to the exits which were located on the bottom of the city were largely slaughtered by horde of monsters which ensued during the Sephiroth crisis. Sadly those poor people who didn’t flee or migrate to Edge were overcome with an intense joy and realization that the upper class was finally gone and what they always wanted had occurred. Soon after this feeling passed like a dream into the night, as they were hit with the epiphany that they had depended on those upper classes for their scraps and throw-away treasures.
Incidents like this, gave ShinRa, and Soldier a bad name; although, most Soldiers were merely following orders or doing what they thought was right. Heh, it seemed he delivered the coupe’ de’ grace to Rufus’s introduction followed by the clapping of thunder off in the mountains. Rikelus glanced over at Kunsel a faint smile spreading across his amicable visage, “Either way, whatever you may believe Rufus..we’re people too were not some disposable.. substitute people for use.. We’ll support you in whatever your task may be, as long as it is for the benefit of the people..but we don’t intend of fading away we still have a job to do, and have our pride..”

finally reaching the top of the stairs kunsel politely waved and said "Greetings Kunsel Soldier first cla....." hey i recognize him he thought to himself as he looked at Rikelus deverell. "Long time no see Rik (a nickname Kunsel had given him) i dont kow if you recognize me or not, we have never actually spoken but" he sais as he places his hands on his helmet hiding his face Nah..some other time he thinks to himself while removing his hands.
"I couldn't help but hear what you were saying to that young lady right there and i couldn't agree more" Looking at rufus now "Nope you haven't changed a bit"

"I suppose I will follow your orders Mr.ShinRa, for now anyway....it IS for the people after all right? Maybe.....ShinRa could go back to the way it was...." Zellie said, a bright glimmer of hope in her eyes. "Though where would we begin? Your orders......Mr. President?" She said excitedly, smiling at Rufus.

Rufus nodded to Rikelus. So...he was another one who liked to give speeches. The two of them were more alike than he would admit aloud.
It seemed that the general consensus amongst his employee's was that they would join his effort as long as it was truly for the benefit for the people. He was, to an extent, impressed by the similar thoughts that seemed present amongst them. Maybe it was a sign of the times, or maybe Meteorfall had changed people's priorities around...but everyone seemed to want the same thing.
Peace.
"I assure you all," Rufus began pacing again. "Together, we will rebuild our world. An unstoppable force, that will correct the mistakes of our predecessors and build a shining new future."
"Though where would we begin? Your orders......Mr. President?"
Rufus stopped. "We will begin with the information Rikelus here has given me." With that, Rufus gave Rikelus a pat on the shoulder. “Are any of you familiar with Genesis?" Rufus spat his name out; as if it had sullied has mouth. "Another of my old man's mistakes...He tried to erase him from the records completely. Even I was not aware of the how serious the situation was until I managed to dig up his file."
"You may not be familiar with him...Genesis was created in the same way that Sephiroth was made. The old man was trying to prove some point, and only ended up creating a monster."
"Genesis tried to destroy everything...much like Sephiroth."
"He's dangerous. And he's come back." Rufus ran a hand through his hair. "He's got help. Someone with access to copy technology. I suspect there's some link between his return and the new mutation going around. As Rikelus informs me, it's transmitted to anyone bit by monsters in the old Mako reactors."
Mako reactors...he'd demolish them all himself once he'd handled the situation at hand.
"I don't know much else, perhaps Rikelus can explain further? He's been investigating the matter. But know, what ever the matter may be...we've got to handle the situation before thing's get out of hand." Rufus sighed heavily. "Everything...everything that has happened to this planet has been our fault. ShinRa's fault. Sephiroth...Genesis...the Hojo and Deepground situation as well. We can't let it this way. ShinRa is not just some harbinger of death...we can be messenger's of messengers of peace as well."
((sorry it took me so long, school kicked my butt XD))

"That answer is what I hoped to hear Mr.President, if you will allow it I want to prove to you that I can be the Turk I was never able to be before!" Zellie said her bright eyes, filled with confidence and pride, "Those creatures......the mutations as you called them, they seem to be attracted to places that harbor large amounts of mako energy, if your plan is to destroy them I say we find the largest source of said energy and trap the creatures there. I know we need to avoid using Mako energy for the planet's sake, however this could eradicate the mutations for good and we may never have to overuse Mako again Sir, how does that sound?" Zellie said, staring at the president intently.

“Due to Genesis’s degenerative properties of his cells, he’s able to use the copy technology and pass his traits onto others. Although they’re weak for the most part, those who have lingered around don’t intend on just dying out letting natural selection take it’s course. Sephiroth was different, and so is the blood that flows in my veins and a handful of others. We’ve been changed at some other level, my best guess is that the Genesis copies consumed some of our cells and changed into something else and the mutation has been spreading ever since consuming Soldiers.”
“The buildup of stronger monsters and transfigured abominations could be attributed to a fluke. I was led to believe they were after Mako until I saw them consume a Soldier, the same way that Angeal was consumed by his own copies. I believe they’re after the cells, Damn Hojo….” Rikelus snarled slightly almost having to bite his lip and shake his head at the mention of the ghostly white professor’s name. Had he not been born none of this would have happened, everyone could have lived their lives normally.
“The soldiers become transmuted because they’re incomplete, they’re not like me..they’re lacking the antibodies to fight the infection. I know this because there’s a girl I had to save…and in order to save her life I did the unthinkable…I injected my cells into her and she was able to battle the monsters without becoming one of them. I didn’t want too; but I think we’ve found something we can fight them with. I went to Costa de Sol in search of a world renowned physician who could provide some answers to me and develop an antigen, or a way to eliminate the threat before it can spread.”
Rikelus Deverell raised his right hand running it through thick azure locks of hair pushing it out of his face and off to the side shooting Zellie a short smile before speaking, “Mako makes them erratic, it’s like trying to use a bug light on a hornet. I’ve ordered all the soldiers to hold their posts on the top floor of the Soldier facility. Sir, it’s not the company that was bad, it was the people that colored it bad and transfigured it into something else.”
His deep crimson red eyes shimmered and glistened softly in the light flooding in through the cracked blinds near a drafty window of the old rustic cabin and Rikelus stepped towards the door hearing the sound of the helicopter crank up. “I’m heading back to Costa De Sol to look for answers the plane is leaving in ten minutes if anyone wants to go with me.”
