Alex walked casually through the Banoora Ruins, after hearing word of meeting the legondary Angeal Hewley in person. This was a great honor for Alex, because meeting such an expert would increase his ability to be able to train under an expert. Alex stood, with high hopes, in the middle of the ruins, waiting for Angeal to arrive.

So. I heard you wanted to learn some new techniques from one of the best fighters eh? Well, welcome to Banoora! My hometown and where the legends go. What do you want to learn first? Angeal says as he walks towards Alex.
Angeal knew right away that this young man was more then what he could handle. Thinking even harder, Angeal figured out that this must be the legendary Alex he had heard about.
Strange that he would come to me for training Angeal mutters to himself.

Alex stood in pure amazement as the great Angeal Hewley walked over to him. Alex couldn't do anything but blather on about how great Angeal is and how inferier Alex is compared to him. He finally caught himself, took a deep breath, and said, "All that aside, it is an honor to meet you. And for the first technique, how about a simple one to start? Oh! I almost forgot... I'm Alex Kamon!" He pointed at himself with his right arm on his hip and his body bent forwards, with a big grin on his face.

After hearing Alex through Angeal decided to tell him something.
I'm not going to teach you any techniques right away. For the first week, all you're going to do is conditioning. I want you to leave your sword here and go run 50 laps around the outskirts of town, then do 200 pushups and situps. I'll be timing you so try and do your best. Angeal says to him.
Maybe he'll be a promising student just like Zack was. He thinks to himself.

Alex rushed off, without his sword, almost flying right by Angeal 50 times. Then with a huge grin he did all of the push-ups and sit-ups in a matter of minutes. Afterwards, he reported to attention and saluted, ready for his next assignment.

Impressive...I didn't think you would do that good. Angeal says to Alex.
Now, go to the top of the Banoora White tree over there and get me as many "dumb-apples" as you can.
As Angeal watches the boy complete the task, he remembers Zack.
Maybe Alex will find the hole below the tree and explore it. Angeal says to himself. He really had to stop doind that.

Alex rushed up the tree, and collected at least 50 before spotting a small hole in the ground, next to the tree. "Hey, what's down this hole?" Alex wondered, asking Angeal. "Should I go down and find out?"

As Angeal watches Alex from a distance, he notices that the boy is looking down the hole.
If you want, you can explore it. I'll be down in four hours to get you so do whatever you want until then. Angeal yells over to Alex.
If he goes down there and gets far enough, he'll be the fourth person ever to know the truth about the lifestream. Angeal thinks in his mind.
Maybe he should stop him from going down.

Alex climbed down the hole quickly before anything else could happen. He journeyed in an underground tunnel system for what seemed like hours, but he was just going around in circles. He started to bore of this and began to leave when he saw a green light near a section of the tunnels that was close to him. Alex began running towards it.

Walking over to the hole and looking down, Angeal saw nothing but darkness.
I guess he really went down...
Angeal thought that Alex should have no trouble if he found Howling Fang down there. Or some other creature. Jumping into the hole. Angeal disappeareed into the dark hole.
Seeming like hours later, Angeal finally found the green glow from the life stream. Walking towards it, he noticed that there was blood on the ground. It meant that either Alex was hurt, or some creature was.
Turning around a corner, Angeal noticed that the blood stopped and in it's place was a materia.
Probably a summon somebody dropped down here a long time ago. Angeal says as he picks it up.
In the distance, he could see the shadowy figure of Alex sitting on a rock. It looked he had been fighting. Angeal walked over to him to listen to his story.

Alex looked up at Angeal, and grinned. "Hey! That's MY summon materia!" Alex quickly snatched it away from him and sat back down on the rock. Alex told the tale (as Angeal wanted in the past reply) of what went on in the tunnels. He stated of the enemy he had faced, and how he used that specific materia that Angeal had taken earlier. "I used the summon Alexander which is contained in that materia. It took up so much power, I began to bleed from exastion, as I believe you've noticed the blood on the ground." Alex was bleeding from his right arm. "That's the arm I use to fight with, as well as cast magic. Which explains the fact that my arm is bleeding." He stood up, stretched out a little, and went on. "So, the Lifestream is used to protect the planet in dire situations, such as Omega Weapon and Jenova. Man, I would have loved to fight those two." Alex smiled at that last remark. "Anyway, let's just get out of here, it's too damn dark!"Alex left the tunnels, and hoped he passed Angeal's test.

Following Alex through the tunnels, Angeal noticed that there was a bone chilling noise coming from behind a gate ahead. Hoping he wasnt right, Angeal looked through the bars. Sitting in the darkness staring back at him was a giant creature.
Nice creature... Angeal says as it stands up.
Turning to run, the creature broke through the gate and chased after Angeal. He ran all the way through the tunnels trying to shake the creature. Within minutes, Angeal was outside with the thing right behind him. Looking towards Alex, he yells:
If you want to pass this lesson, kill the creature.

Alex was worn out from the earlier battle with the same type of monster, but in order to pass Angeal's test, Alex readied himself for a tiring battle. He swung aimlessly at the creature, only hitting it a couple of times now and then, but all he really did was wear himself out quickly. The creature got a lucky shot, and scratched Alex's arm. He yelled out in pain, then ran at the monster. Filled with fury, he said a verse that would be used to summon Alexander.
"Heaven's light, bane the darkness. ALEXANDER!!!"
Suddenly, a massive beam of light came down upon the ground next to where Alex was standing. Then, a large blade, carried by an angel, came crashing down on the monster, destroying it immediately. The angel looked over at Alex, and he saw none other than... HIMSELF. Alex opened his mouth in amazement, as the angel form of himself fled into the light from which it came. Alex had only one thing to say after the test was over.
"De ja vu..."

Watching the whole thing from where he was standing, Angeal closely watched Alex. Noticing that the boy was saying something, Angeal watched even more carefully. Then a bright light emmited from the ground below Alex and an angel rose into the battle. It brought it's sword down onto the creature and destroyed it.
Strange, that he should be able to use himself as a summon. Angeal thought in his head as he walked towards Alex. Congrats! You passed the test. Youre lucky that i didnt kill the creature for you.
