Something had drawn the practically memory-less young woman to this Cave though what it was escaped her completely. Her looked down at her gloved hand. “Why do I…Why do I feel drawn to this place that feels so new to me?” she whispered as she looked up at the beautiful woman imprisoned within the mako crystals. She looked as if she was in a deep sleep, time hadn’t been able to take its dreadful toll upon her.
“Lucrecia…Why did you draw me here?” She looked down again, she knew who Lucrecia was from her time as a Turk, or at least what she could remember of that time. She looked around the cave, it was beautiful and enchanting to look upon but still the most beautiful thing within it was Lucrecia in her mako coffin. A sigh left her lips.
Calamity sat down near the wall of the cave, her knees drawn up to her chest so that her head could rest upon them. Lucrecia is the reason I was drawn here but why? Is there something here that I’m meant to find or remember? Did something happen here? she thought to herself as she looked around. She wasn’t really focusing on anything which was most likely the reason that she spotted the object laying on the floor that looked out of place.
Slowly pushing herself to her feet Calamity walked over to the object, crouching down and picking up the delicate necklace that lay there. Pain shot through her, making her not only scream out in pain but also clutch her head. Another scream escaped her lips as images formed in her mind.
*Flashback*
“Calamity, come here a second,” a woman said softly, she was standing in front of Lucrecia, some flowers held lightly in her hand. “You know who she is don’t you?”
A teenage girl walked over to the woman, staying silent as she nodded once, she did know the woman was. “She’s your friend, Lucrecia, the mother of Sephiroth.” The woman nodded and laid down the flowers.
“I come here to think, she calms me and makes me think straight when I otherwise wouldn’t, keep that in mind my beautiful child, she’ll do the same for you.”
“Ok mum, I’ll keep that in mind,” she whispered as she smiled up at her mother, she was wearing the a delicate rose necklace around her neck, it suited her for she herself was like a rose.
*Flashback End*
Tears ran down her face, the pain too much for her to handle, the rose necklace she held tightly in her hand was digging into her palm. The pain still hadn’t reseeded as was getting slightly worse, she couldn’t even get up the pain was that bad. She used her right hand to balance her while her left still held her throbbing head, the tears stopped flowing down her cheeks but the pain was still there.

It was nothing like he had ever seen before. The cave, no matter how deep it went, was still as luminous as ever. Light seemed to come out from all directions within the cave, giving it a tranquil and serene atmosphere. Crystalline rock formations jutted out in every corner, and the light seemed to reflect and refract off them, giving them this radiant shine within the cave, something unique only to these crystals. It was cold and yet, quite humid within the cave as well. There was no wind, and was a bit damp as well. Water dripped from the cave's ceiling, the only other sound heard other than Asch's light but cautious footsteps.
Asch walked cautiously along the cave, his hand wandering from the walls to the crystalline rocks. They felt cold, yet the light that bounced off them gave them this warm feeling, something Asch welcomed. In fact, any human would welcome a little bit of light in the dark. His sword, Sandalphon, lay silently by his side, dangling from its black and gold scabbard. There was no need to draw his blade today. The cave seemed safe enough, and Asch felt no ominous nor maliciousness from the cave. Instead...he felt other negative emotions.
Sad ones. One of suffering and pain.
Something he decided to brush off and completely ignore. Such emotions were mere signs of weaknesses. But if you manage to over come such powerful weaknesses, then your strength would definately grow. He had casted off his weaknesses long ago. Yet, no man walks without a shadow amongst his trail. Asch knew, that he always had a weakness, no matter how strong he became. Men alike, all have shadows walking beside them.
Mako-infused, emerald colored eyes seemed to glow, as he went deeper. Then, Asch stopped his movements and listened. He could hear sounds...just around the corner. It sounded like someone...was sobbing? No...more like pained sobbing. Come to think of it, he heard something reverberate along the walls a while ago. Something akin to someone screaming in pain. Cautiously, he placed a ready hand on his sword's hilt, and turned the corner.
He was expecting someone getting attacked by some monster, only to find out, he was wrong. He saw a young woman struggling to get on her feet, and quite clearly, from the way she held her head, she seemed to be in pain. A little relieved, Asch approached the young woman, carefully, crouching down beside her, making his presence known to her. "What's wrong? Where does it hurt?" he asked, his voiced a little softer than his normal tone would allow it.

Footsteps, she could hear them coming closer to her but the pain that was coursing through her prevented her from doing much to stop the footsteps owner from getting any closer. She felt too vulnerable in this state, she was still in a great pain. She wanted to reach for her sais and use them as a warning but she couldn’t even bring herself to remove her hand from the side of her head. Without thinking she tried to move away from him but couldn’t bring herself to do so, she merely ended up falling on her rear end.
Calamity looked up as she heard a voice close to her, she didn’t feel as though he meant her harm so for now at least she would stop trying to move away. “Regaining…memories…” she whispered through sheer pain but finally managed to lower her other hand to support herself better. “It’ll pass…” she whispered, it was already starting to fade though not by much. She closed her cerulean eyes then gently rubbed her temple with her delicate fingertips before lowering it to her side.
Her hand slowly opened, blood seeping from her palm where the necklace had pierced the skin. She dropped the necklace to the floor, her cerulean grey orbs looked up from the necklace to look at the young man who was in front of her. The mako colour of his eyes caught her eyes, they were a similar colour to Kadaj’s. “I’ll be fine in a little while…I just have to wait for the pain to pass…and not try to stand up…” she whispered, looking down at her bloodied hand.
“I’m Calamity…Calamity Valentine,” she whispered, she was still in pain but it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.

Asch watched as she still struggled to get up. The pain must have been too overwhelming for her to trip up like she did. He didn't scoff at it or laugh at it however(which is something he usually does), and instead gave her a rather puzzled look, after she answered his questions. Regaining memories? He knew about amnesia and the like, and he's heard about the things amnesia patients go through just to regain their lost memories. He knew about headaches and how it sometimes hurt the patients just trying to remember. It may be safe to say, that this woman was experiencing the same thing. His eyes caught sight of hers, and they were a deep cerulean color.
How rare... he thought. Not many people had eyes like hers. They seemed...unique. Not even his mako-infused eyes could match up to the woman's own beautiful eyes. A sound brought his attention to her side. The sound of steel hitting cold rock. A silverish glint caught his eye. A weapon was by her side, and just looking at it, Asch knew that the woman might have been an experienced fighter, just like him. However, she was too weak of a state to do anything right now. Heck, she's even having a hard time getting herself up.
"Then it's better if you sit down for a while," he told her, his voice strong yet underneath all was a slight concern for the woman. Asch had always been like this. He seemed to have a soft spot for woman, even more so for those who were in danger. Yet, if he had to, he'll fight or even kill a woman, something he hopes that he'll never have to do. As he studied her form, Asch noticed glints of crimson on her hand. She was bleeding. From that same hand she dropped an accessory of some sort. Was it from that...why she bled? Without so much as a word, Asch hovered his own hand just inches above her own wounded hand. "Cura..." he said, in an almost slight whisper.
Green light enveloped both hands, trapping them into its warm healing radiance. That should close the wound at least. Satisfied, Asch stood up, turning his back to the woman, facing the largest crystal within the whole cave, with another woman in it. For a while, Asch couldn't speak and was simply awed by the crystal formation infront of him. Finally, he gathered himself and turned to the woman, slowly. "Asch...Asch Alderaan." he said in reply to her telling him her name.

Maybe I was infected with JENOVA cells…that would explain the pain I’m caused by recovering memories… she thought to herself, pushing, or at least attempting to, back the pain that was numbing her skull in a most unpleasant manor. Calamity pushed these thoughts to the back of her head since they were of irrelevant at the moment. Her memories would return in time and she’d endure the pain to learn who she is. She would have given up trying to reclaim her memories long ago if it wasn’t for the burning desire to know who she was and what she was really like as a person, she couldn’t be constantly smiley and friendly, could she? Calamity looked up at the young man in front of her and noticed him look at her eyes and couldn’t hold his gaze, she had to look away. Something about the right cerulean of her eyes seemed to entrance some and scare others.
She noticed how his attention moved to her sais, reminding her of her vulnerability, something Calamity couldn’t say she liked. She was a fighter by nature who didn’t like being weak and defenceless, it wasn’t in her nature to depend upon others. Her eyes moved from her sais to her hands, when she looked at her hands all she saw was the blood, her hands trembled slightly, blood always seemed to make her do that when it stained her hands. She didn’t know what caused her to shake at the sight of blood stained hands but something did, maybe it was something to do with the beatings given to her by her father as a child, she wasn’t sure but knew in time all would be revealed to her.
Slowly Calamity nodded , she knew it would be better is she stayed on her rear end until the throbbing in her head subsided. “I think you right,” she said softly as she continued to look down at her delicate hands that even to her who knew that she’d spilt blood with them would never think of as the hand of a murderer but they were. She’d murdered her father…Calamity suddenly say his hand appear above hers and looked up at him with a puzzled look on her gentle features, wondering what it was he was doing. An uncertain look soon replaced it when he healed her hand. “Thank you but she really didn’t need to waste your energy, it was my own stupid fault.”
She bowed her head politely. “Pleasure to meet you Asch and I must thank you for coming along when you did, the pain is easier to tame when others are around.” she said softly. Calamity allowed her enchanting smile to claim her pale lips as she looked up at him with her slightly brighter than normal cerulean eyes that seemed to be collecting the colours that were given off when light hit the crystallized mako that Lucrecia was encased in.
