A soft giggle left the lips of the young woman that the chocobo was currently nuzzling into, she smiled as she scratched its neck gently with her nails. “Aren’t you a sweetheart?” she whispered softly to the large yellow bird in front of her. It seemed to squawk at her happily.
“Well it should be to you, he is yours.” A voice spoke from behind her, making her cerulean eyes glance over her shoulder at the man who was standing there.
Her black tinted hair fell about her face, hiding it from view. “He’s mine?” She looked at the chocobo once more and it squawked at her again. A smile came to her lips. “Envy…” her voice showed her uncertainty.
“You may have lost your memory but part of you remembers him and he remembers you,” she looked down as she heard those words. “You left him here and asked me to look after him until you came back for him and I have, he’s missed you though. He wouldn’t let anyone else ride him, I think he needs some exercise.”
Calamity looked at Envy for a moment. “What do you say? Fancy going to a run?” it squawked loudly in her ear. “I’ll take that as a yes then shall I?” He nudged her with his head and she merely nodded in reply before unsurely climbed onto his back, gently clutching his features in her delicate hands. “Ok, Envy time for you to show us what you can do.”
Without another word Envy took off, darting in every direction and much to her surprise Calamity was able to stay on his back. He swerved and went back the way he’d came, stopping beside the man as Calamity slid off of his back. She giggled as she hugged the chocobo.
“I’ll leave you two to catch up.” He turned and walked away, leaving Calamity and the chocobo alone.
Why would I have left him here? Why didn't I take him with me? she thought to herself as she closed her eyes, resting her head on his neck as she tried to think of something that would of made her leave the chocobo that had clearly meant a lot to her behind. She couldn't think of anything and that annoyed her more than anything.
Envy seemed to sense her unease and nudged her with his head, drawing her away from her thoughts and smiling at him warmly. "Who was I before I lost my memory Envy? Was I someone worth knowing?"

"Everyone's worth knowing in the world. You just have to prod enough." A voice came from a nearby chocobo stall, a yellow chocobo raising its head and warbling. "Easy there..." The stable opened up and walking alongside the chocobo was Momo, looking up at the girl sitting on her own bird. "Hiya. You look pretty. My name is Momo. Momo Amano. What's yours?" she asked in her usual, cheerful voice that came out when speaking with other women.

Calamity glanced over her shoulder at the girl who appeared to be several years younger than the 23 year old, her hand shifted to the neck of the chocobo, stroking it with her delicate fingers. A crimson blush covered her cheeks, even though it was a girl who’d called her pretty she couldn’t help but blush a bright shade of crimson. “Pleasure to meet you, I’m Calamity Valentine but friends call me Cali,” she said with a smile. “Oh and this is Envy,” she had an odd feeling the nudge to her shoulder was Envy’s way of saying ‘don’t forget about me’.
“It’s a nice day to be out with chocobos, they make even these bright days where you want to be just chilling fun.”

"I know what you mean," Momo replied, smiling and walking up to the girl. The chocobo followed closely. "I'm sorry. Did I embarrass you? I tend to speak my mind about that kind of thing without hesitation. It's just how I am, I guess. Not sure if it's how I always was, but that's another story."

"No, it isn't that so much as the fact that I'm not used to being told such things, to my knowledge that I've ever been complimented," she said softly, Calamity looked down at the ground for a moment then looked at the girl, something finally dawned on her about her last sentence. "You have gaps in your memory too?" she asked softly, she'd never met someone in the same position as here.
Envy nudged her gently, making her girl as she stratched his neck, just below his beak. He was quite content with her stratching his neck.

Momo nodded. "One real big one. I can't remember anything since before I was fifteen. I have yet to find out what happened or why. Even after thirteen years, I haven't had a single memory return to me," she admitted with a heave of a sigh. "I guess it's my bad luck. Maybe I should just move on already or something, huh?" she asked, half-jokingly. The chocobo standing next to her pecked lightly at the ground near its feet.

Her eyes moved to the sky, she wasn’t about to give up any time soon, sometimes…you couldn’t let go of the past especially when you don’t know what it is your letting go. “I wouldn’t move on, I have very few memories of my past but that is what drives me, the desire to know who am and who I was,” she said softly. “I visit places that draw me to them and allow them to tell me what they will.” For a moment she was silent, thinking about what her life would be like if she stopped looking for her memories.

Momo shrugged lightly. "Well, knowing who you are is good and all... But it gets annoying when my conscience comes in every time I'm really liking a guy. It keeps going, 'What if you had someone you loved in your forgotten memories? What if you were married to someone you never want to betray?'." She pat the chocobo's back gently, the chocobo warbling lightly. "All I know is I have a very special ability and I'm very good at fighting." She then adopted a playful smile. "And apparently I can't get drunk no matter how much alcohol I have."

Calamity nodded in understanding. “I’ve never had that problem, no-one really seems to take an interest in me in that way so I never bother to let myself like them, I don’t wish to be hurt,” she explained, “I’m guessing I’ve always been single since no-one had asked me how anyone is doing so if I was it was a very well kept secret,” Calamity looked up at the sky, a quiet sigh left her lips. She didn’t know what it was about her that made everyone think ‘sister’ but there had to be something that put guys off liking her in that way though what it is is beyond her.
“I’ve never been drunk, I’ve never even tried alcohol as far as I know…”

"Hmm? Well, you should join me sometime. It's kinda fun if you do it right," Momo suggested, walking up closer to Calamity. "I'm sure you'll find your memories soon enough, Cali. But don't rush it. Take it one bit at a time, okay?" She took a closer step and gave the girl a hug, smiling. "You can still have fun without those memories by making new ones."

“I would like that Momo,” she said softly after giving it a few minutes of thought, Calamity had completely relaxed now around the younger appearing girl. A gentle laugh left her lips as she hugged the other female back. “I’ll take my time, too much pain to do anything else,” Calamity added with a bright smile. Momo was the first girl that Calamity counted as a friend, sure she had Kai and Kadaj but neither of them were girls. “I’ll be needing your help with that, I’m not exactly the definition of fun.”

Momo let go slowly and then crossed her arms, seeming playfully serious. "Well, that's tricky. Everyone has their own definition of fun, even if they overlap a lot. So, I can't really tell you if something's fun or not. All I could do is expose you to stuff that people think is fun and see if you think the same way or not." She lowered her arms to her sides and smiled. "I'm guessing we should take some time to get to know each other, but unfortunately, I have to go to the mines on business. But I'll give you my phone number so you can call me whenever you want to do something fun. Odds are I'll either be in a bar or relaxing at an inn, so I should answer rather quickly. Sound good?" she asked, looking a bit more energetic.

This woman, Momo, was more like Calamity than she had first realised. She seemed to know that everyone saw things in different way, just as Calamity did. “It sounds like a plan to me,” Calamity added a warm smile for good measure then nodded and smiled a bit brighter. “Sure, I’ll call you, it’ll give me something to do when I’m not here or at Midgar,” she said simply. The prospect of getting to know this woman was going to be placed very highly on Calamity’s agenda. She knew by the next time they met that Calamity would most likely have met someone new by then but Calamity wasn’t going to put her aside before getting to know her.

Momo's smile grew and she jumped a bit. "Alright! Let's see..." She took a piece of paper from her bag and looked around for a pen to match. "Oh crap..." She then looked at Cali a moment, her smile a bit more embarrassed. "Um... Could you keep this a secret? I don't want the wrong people finding out." She put the paper down and lifted her hand up, closing her eyes. "Trace... on," she whispered. In her hand formed a simple click pen, starting with a wireframe and every individual element and detail filling up one by one. When it finished, she pressed the top and picked up the paper. She wrote her name and number on the paper and handed it to Cali, slipping the pen into her bag. "Here you go."
