A creak.
The sound of closing doors.
The rhythmic taps of Altiarus' foot resonated through the empty shell of the silent city as he walked undeterred towards the outskirts of the dead Midgar. Supplies were finally starting to ran out, and the strenuous activity of gathering more from towns across the continent will have to start now. He knew a few 'nice' stores that sells things much cheaper than normal, and those only open during times like this.
Tap, tap, tap.
He continued to step over ruins and wreckages, paying no mind to the eroding buildings he encountered during his trek. He knew the area well, and know that nothing else lived here, at least in this vicinity. The streets are still littered with destroyed metals and trash, occasionally a smear of dried blood, either from humans or monsters. He really didn't care.
Tap, tap, t--
...
He paused. And listened.
...
Silently, he hid himself in one of the darkest areas within the ruins. There is something near, presumably something humanoid, since those sounds sounded like footsteps. He brought his hand over to his sword hilt, silently thanking whatever deity that made him choose to once again wear his old ShinRa SOLDIER uniform. The dark tone of the clothing would help him stay undetected...hopefully...

As the troops came into view, Altiarus narrowed his eyes. A scout patrol, made of two standard squadrons of...2nd class SOLDIERS? That was unexpected, he had thought that the SOLDIER unit had been disbanded and only a few remained with the remnants of ShinRa. Could it be that the fallen corporation was trying to rebuild its power? Then another person, presumably the leader of the scout party, made his appearance as he trudged along the troops with an expression similar to boredom. While usually a leader's appearance is sensible and expected, this particular person had, however, fuelled the confusion. The man was familiar somehow, and Altiarus knew that he must've seen him somewhere before, but was unable to pinpoint it at the moment. The SOLDIERS continued on, and after a silent self-debate, Altiarus had decided to follow them secretly. Their activity was suspicious, and he could not risk his own hidden safehouse be discovered. Waiting for a tad longer, he moved from his spot and soundlessly followed the scout forces.

That leading man was careful and watchful, and probably knew that he was following them. He couldn't hope that the man would leave without a thorough search around the area, if his guesses were right. Nevertheless, he might still be able to retain the element of surprise. Grabbing a small and light debris, Altiarus flung it across to the other side of the ruin, while quickly scurrying towards the opposite direction, careful not to leave behind trails.

As he continued to go around the group, Altiarus witnessed the destruction caused by that single movement. His eyes narrowed again, and he prepared a Fire 3 spell quietly, readied to release it to create chaos within the party. He needed as much advantage as possible, since he knew he would be having a hard time if he was to be surrounded. Well isn't that interesting? Hn, finally a bit of challenge to test himself. Picking up another debris, he aimed it at the leader and threw it with precision, hitting him on the back of his head. It won't really do any damage, but should at least distract him a bit as Altiarus continued to trek to the other side of the group.
