Plot/Storyline:
In a realm known as Gaia, a young scientist by the name of Jeremy Rayford had been working for the past three years on a new type of mineral he discovered. After all his work, Jeremy discovered a new element, soon named Jerium, is hidden inside the mineral's structure.
After even more work on this element, it was soon discovered that it could be used to create a solid rock of Jerium. The Jerium rock had bizarre chemical reactions with almost anything- usually resulting in odd colored smoke or a rapid change in temperature.
One day, one of Jeremy's assistant chemists was trying to measure the volume of a certain size of rock, when he accidentally cut himself on the rock's sharp edge. Only a small amount of blood dripped onto the rock, but within a few seconds something extraordinary occurred.
A flame that's color shifted between blue and red every few moments erupted upwards. The drops of blood on the Jerium sizzled and then were absorbed. The previously gray rock changed to a dull red color. The flames faded, but in there place was a "rip." This "rip" was a tear though the very realm itself.
Of course, within the next day the scientists were experimenting on this rip. They discovered a few things very quickly. One was that they could use their hands or just about anything else to pull the tear open farther, creating some sort of portal. Second was that this portal didn't lead anywhere except some sort of empty, black hallway. There were places that looked like doors could belong there, but aside from that it was completely barren. Last was that the now dull red rock would burst into flames and open another portal when heated above 100 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, in another realm known as Spira...
All of the summoners' aeons were acting strangely. They refused to listen to commands, and were trying to get their summoners to follow them.
Many summoners gathered to discuss the problem. They came up with nothing relevant, aside from the fact that the aeons were in distress. During this meeting, a large aeon appeared by its own free will. It's appearance was that of a hawk with canine features. It's large wings were more bat-like, having gigantic talons on the tips.
The summoners could not communicate with this new aeon. Soon, it became frustrated and flew into the air. It's wings began to glow a dull red, and it flapped them extremely hard and so fast they were a blur. A tear in the sky appeared, opening a large portal leading to a completely dark hallway. This hallway was the same as the one in Gaia.
One brave summoner ventured into the "hallway." At nearly the same moment, a scientist from Gaia entered the corridor.
The worlds had been connected, tied together by Jerium, the mystic portal element, and Jerium, the bat-lion-hawk aeon of realms.
