Beginning...
Black leather boots padded gently across the steel flooring but barely a sound could be heard, a trail of red was all that was seen by others as a crimson jacket disappeared around the corner. Stepping into an elevator, the auburn haired man hastily pressed the button leading up to the SOLDIER floor. For once in a long time he felt eager to fight, he couldn't help but feel a sudden rush of excitement. As the rectangular box moved upwards, he soon began to to fall into thought.
Just who would be brave enough to face him? Many would try, he knew that much, but none of those lesser SOLDIERs that idolized him would ever stand a chance. His desire was beat down someone worthy enough before he finally decided to move onto the man he envied with a passion, despite this man being one of his greatest friends, the LOVELESS obsessed SOLDIER had to beat him at least once.
When he reached his floor and stepped out of the elevator, his clear Mako blue eyes scanned the area, there didn't appear to be many SOLDIERs around. They were either at lunch or some may have even been in the training room. He cared not for that, he had better things to do. He turned his feet toward the training room. He would need a skilled SOLDIER to fight against him, not some mindless fan or coward. What was the difference?
The door to the training room slid open in front of him, and he stepped in. The Mako blue eyed man walked to the window, and observed those that were on the other side. He could feel gazes boring into his back from behind as he searched for a fearless and strong opponent. It wasn't difficult to understand why 1st Class SOLDIER, Genesis Rhapsodos, was here. They knew, that's why most of them were staying clear and refraining from entering the training room. He wasn't interested in those cowards though.
Without a word to anyone, he took out a white and silver book, it was obvious to those who watched him of what it was. Genesis kept his head down for now, reading his most favourite work and occasionally lifted his head up to continue observing the SOLDIERs training.
"Infinite in mystery is the gift of the Goddess, we seek it thus, and take to the sky, ripples form on the water's surface, the wandering soul knows no rest..."
Those stares bored deeper into his back as his admirers watched him in awe. A secret smirk formed on his lips, for once he was getting the attention and not that over-confident friend of his.

Five days in a row! Training, training, and even more training. Boy, Faith sure did like to keep her busy, oh well, it didn't matter much, she was enjoying herself at least, not to mention that she was sure she was slowly getting stronger. At least now maybe no one would underestimate her, her goal was to be as a great as her father once was, despite everyone laughing at her for it, she still stood by what she believed she could do.
The past few days had been pretty good for her, thinking back at them only made her smile. About three weeks ago she had a date at the Golden Saucer, she didn't bother telling anyone about it, they wouldn't believe her anyway. But still, that had to be one of the greatest moments of her life, not just because of a certain someone, but because she was actually genuinely happy for once in her life.
But now those days would have to be put on hold for now. Still with her shortened hair, the seventeen year old glared seriously at her opponent taunting her, she was just about having enough of his pathetic comments, not to mention there was a score to settle with him. No one really knew why she had cut her hair to just an inch below her shoulders, problem was... she wasn't the one who cut it.
Her eye twitched slightly as his next comment finally got to her. "Alright, you asked for it!" she muttered, twirling her blade above her head then soon charged at him, his laughing face soon dropped at the sight before him. But before he could even react, he was then thrown up by the collar of his shirt, then Kyrie entered a hyper-like mode and jumped up at him, she spun in the air as he began falling, the pain he felt would've been equivalent to being hurt by helicopter propellers.
She then moved out the to let him fall, as he hit the ground she then dealt the final blow by sheathing her sword and diving down on him, jamming her elbow into his gut. The annoyed expression was still clear on her face, others seemed to gawk at the sight they had just witnessed. Kyrie, feeling a little self conscious, just merely looked away and hoped that they would stop staring.
She had a feeling she had just over-done it...

Why was Lazard always so keen to have him in the Director's Office? Well that was merely a stupid question with an obvious answer. But the way the Director seemed to want the Hero in his office 24/7 to discuss the running of SOLDIER... It was uncalled for... He didn't have anything better to do, and he appreciated the respect the great man showed him, but it had a tendency to become irritating, and rapidly. He was quite sure that if he demanded that Lazard give up the position, and give it to himself, Lazard would hand over the job quite willingly. Not that he wanted such a thing... He received enough publicity as it was...
Sephiroth sighed as he closed the door behind him, eyes flashing with boredom. So, a single young SOLDIER 3rd class has gone MIA, and the news hadn't been shared with anyone else yet. He didn't intend to share that information anyway, it didn't concern him. Apart from that minor problem, everything seemed to be running smoothly withing SOLDIER, according to Lazard. But that was something he could tell simply by watching the goings-on. That entire, 3 hour meeting with the Director had been simply a waste of his time.
A black gloved finger pressed the SOLDIER main floor button as he stepped into an open elevator, hair shimmering in the artificial lighting. After a moment of silence broken only by the sound of the elevator cords moving, the doors slid open again with a quite beep. Good, the floor appeared to be deserted at the moment, meaning that everyone was performing their own duties. He began to walk across the floor, nothing in particular set in his mind. But excited voices from the Training Room drew his attention. The eyes, more greenish blue than a normal SOLDIER's sky blue, fixed on the door as he walked toward it.
The moment he stepped into the room, the Hero almost regretted it. One, the room was quite crowded, watching a session within the walls of the battle room. Two, a familiar figure stood not too far away, reading a book which was obviously a LOVELESS copy. It hadn't exactly been that long since that ill-fated training encounter with Genesis; in which only Angeal's interference had prevented the entire, million dollar room from undoubtedly collapsing. the encounter in which had harmed genesis, to an unprecedented extent within a week.
"The problem is the Mako that seeped in through the wound."
He felt a ghostly feeling of brief shame, that same feeling he had felt at that one point. It didn't matter what exactly, or who, had inflicted the injury. It was the fact that he had allowed the sparring match to become so dangerous.
"You... Are not viable..."
He still wondered why he hadn't been able to be the donor that Genesis had needed. It had been on his mind ever since.
He snapped out of the brief reverie, and moved further into the room, purposely steering clear of his friend. He was well aware of ever single stare that was shot his way; he was used to the sudden intake of breath that came from many, used to seeing the few women SOLDIER's grow faint and weak as their eyes fell on his figure. But among the admiring gazes, he could feel the glares of jealousy as well... All he could do was remain standing tall and proud in the midst of the mass.
It was common knowledge that he often came into the training room to inspect those who were training, to make sure that they were actually learning things and not just slacking off. The few who managed to attract his attention would occasionally receive feedback and advice, advice that was always taken to heart. The recipients would always be so proud, and in awe, when he spared them a word. And if he was really impressed, which would happen only extremely rarely, he would go in and spar that man or woman himself. These little tests usually drew just about all of SOLDIER into the training room. The members would crowd into the room, excited almost beyond control of their opportunity to see the Hero fight. All in all, he found that such reactions stretched his tolerance to its limit. But those he fought would usually end up moving up a rank within a week or two.
He was suddenly immune to the people all around him, when he saw who was fighting. Kyrie... He gazed through the window, crossing his arms as he watched her. While the eyes and body stance remained uninterested and bored, he was in truth feeling a surge of warmth in his heart. Kyrie was well on her way to becoming a powerful SOLDIER member. He watched as she performed a rather spectacular take-down, and nodded slightly in approval. He was only vaguely aware of the other SOLDIERs now, and watching the two within the training intensely.
ooc: I'd like to have a templete to put at the top of my posts. Can either you help me there?

.:Fallen Angel:."My soul, corrupted by vengeance, hath endured torment to find the end of the journey, in my own salvation and your eternal slumber." Genesis found himself snapping his book shut as gasps came from the male SOLDIERs, both 3rd and 2nd. He had almost forgot about his observations and now wondered why everyone was suddenly shocked, where had his attention gone? He then looked forward and passed the glass, peering into the training room. Mako fused eyes widened in amusement as a soft smirk curved his lips.
His extraordinarily bright eyes gazed upon the victor of a finished battle, to see that it was a woman surprised him only a bit, but Genesis wasn't the type to be sexist, so he accepted what he was looking at.
The opponent looked to be in very bad shape now, it was doubtful that such a weakling would get up from those injuries, though Genesis always had a habit of misunderstanding a person's abilities.
He looked back at the young woman who now appeared a little irritated by the stares she was getting. A delicate looking thing was what first came to mind when taking in her appearance. Shoulder length brunette hair with some silver streaks. She was looking away, so he couldn't see her eyes very well. From what he saw of her attire she was a 2nd Class, most likely with the ambition of becoming a 1st.
"Hmm... interesting," he mused to himself, the look in his eye told practically anyone what his intentions were at that moment. This girl clearly had some skill and there was something very different about her from the others, he wanted to know what, which is why he decided to act on his plans.
Genesis moved away from the glass, though when he did, through the corner of his eye he had noticed a certain silver haired friend of his in the room with him. An annoyed twitch was visible in his left eye, now he was no longer the center of attention. How like Sephiroth to always steal all the spotlight. It was clear enough to gather that Genesis envied him, but not to worry.
He turned to the other SOLDIERs, firmly saying his orders to them which left them somewhat nervous. "Everyone clear the room," he entered the room behind the glass and looked in the injured man's direction, a smug smirk formed on his fine lips "and someone get him out of here, this inferior weakling has much to learn." Then before the girl could leave, Genesis turned to her, a devilishly charming smile replaced the smirk.
"You, on the other hand, shall stay," he said smoothly, now getting a glance at her eyes and face. Pale and innocent features complimented with a Mako blue eye on her left and a silver one on her right, there was definitely something different about this girl. Genesis was never one to give out compliments, so he preffered to keep them to himself, but this young woman seemed to fit his tastes, though chose to not take an interest in her in that particular way.
"State your name, SOLDIER," he spoke again, this time with a more professional tone. Sephiroth was in the back of his mind for now, something told him that the famous SOLDIER was still in this room, too. But right now Genesis focussed on his own interests, and at the moment he had found an opponent he hoped would be worthing of fighting him.
ooc: I can't help you there I'm afraid, Sephiroth. I just found my images on Photobucket as icons for Genesis and then added the text with the posting box.

Kyrie's attention was soon caught as everyone just began to leave one by one, a few SOLDIERs had to drag her injured foe out, she knew she shouldn't have, but she couldn't help her sudden burst of anger. "Maybe next time you'll think again before pinning me down and cutting my hair, you useless moron!" she shouted, seeming quite upset, but kept that very well hidden, her fists remained by her sides and balled up, trying her hardest to not just run over and throttle her unconscious opponent.
It didn't matter now anyway, hopefully someone of higher ranking than her would deal with him after this, maybe he'd even get kicked out of SOLDIER. She tried to block out what he did to her, and to a lot of people, they thought she would just be overreacting. She knew she wasn't, she always took care of her hair, she adored it long, her father had always said her long hair was what made her look more like her mother, so it somewhat meant something to her.
She supposed that now that she should be leaving also, but was soon stopped by someone. Just as she was about to sigh, her eyes widened at the sight before her... was this real? She didn't know, but it sure felt like it wasn't, pinching herself seemed to prove her wrong.
"Ouch," she groaned, rubbing her arm a little before turning her attention to the 1st Class SOLDIER, bowing respectfully before rising "G-Genesis, it's an honour..." what else could she say? She didn't even know why he was here, but for some reason he was staring at her, this made her feel a little uncomfortable.
She blinked a little slowly as he asked her to state her name, he didn't know who she was? Oh, right! Of course he wouldn't, she was just a mediocre 2nd Class... still, she felt she had better respond to him, and quick. "M-My name is Kyrie Fallen, 2nd Class SOLDIER," she stated, standing up straight with her hands by her sides and chin up.
It was odd, really. She hadn't expected him to be in here, too, what was he in here for anyway? Didn't he usually hang out with Sephiroth and Angeal? Maybe he was just checking up on the other SOLDIERs, whatever, she didn't know.
She soon lost her respectable posture and let her eyes wander around the room, she was feeling a little nervous that he was here, but what soon sent a weird feeling in her heart was the sight she saw next. Sephiroth!? What in the Goddesses name was he doing here? This was starting to feel a little bit weird now...
What was going on?

Sephiroth continued to gaze into the training room, feeling a slight rush of amusement at the evident discomfort Kyrie was feeling. The sudden stares she was experiencing, it was only a taste of what he endured day after day. One reason why he felt something toward her, was that she wasn't so different from himself. It made him feel, if possible, a little bit less lonely and secluded. Then Genesis' voice dragged him out of the sea of warm fog that he was seeing in his mind's eye.
"Everyone clear the room.. And someone get him out of here, this inferior weakling has much to learn."
He felt a sudden rush of annoyance. "So Genesis... You are still so supercilious, that you would insult a SOLDIER of much less skill than yourself... How petty..." That was his immediate thought. It didn't matter that the young man had been defeated, he was trying to become more powerful, that was what really mattered. But of course, Genesis, so proud of his own strength, would fail to see that... The LOVELESS guy never thought back to when he had been training... He had pulled some stunts that had made people view him as weak. Sephiroth remembered those moments of their training clearly. But the higher ranked SOLDIERs had never hated on Genesis, simply because he had been in the process of learning. So why then, did Genesis act in such a way now, when he was much stronger?
"You on the other hand, shall stay. State your name, SOLDIER"
That was it. The Hero had known Genesis long enough to know exactly what was going through his friend's head. He was about to challenge Kyrie to a duel, and that was one thing that he wouldn't allow. Kyrie was nowhere near as skilled as Genesis, yet. And from that recent experience in the training room, Sephiroth was aware that Genesis had a tendency to become dangerous, and forget that it was only a practice sparring match. Kyrie would very likely be harmed.
Sephiroth strode foreword, toward the pair, eyes narrowed irritably. The grace with which he moved, he could approach almost soundlessly. At the moment, he didn't really want to talk with Genesis, but it was necessary. He halted at Genesis' side, gazing at him steadily.
"Genesis, you can't just demand a match with someone of lower rank that you. It is up to the one whom you challenge. If that one doesn't feel ready to fight you, then you are supposed to leave them be. You should know that... It's in the SOLDIER Code."
He spoke firmly, and in a voice that suggested his disinterest in a counter-argument. Arms crossed, his body stiff, it was evident where his opinion remained.
"Besides, she just got out of her own sparring match. She deserves rest, before facing one at your skill level, and only should she chose to. There is no honor in battling a weakened opponent."
Yes, he had just pulled the Angeal card, and he didn't care. He would not hesitate to report a abuse of rank to Lazard, should Genesis press on to attempt to force Kyrie to fight.

.:Fallen Angel:."My soul, corrupted by vengeance, hath endured torment to find the end of the journey, in my own salvation and your eternal slumber." Kyrie Fallen. A unique name there, but not one he felt suited a Hero. In her case, a Heroine. A smirk formed on his perfect lips when he saw the discomfort she was going through in his presence, Genesis had that affect on a lot of SOLDIER's, especially the women.
He was about to elaborate his reasons for keeping her behind if not for a familiar voice speaking before him, a twitch was visible in Genesis' eye. He held back an irritable look and instead looked smoothly in the incoming Hero's direction. Oh, how he loathed that very title bestowed upon the arrogant 1st Class.
"All hail Sepiroth..."
Genesis seethed on the inside at his childhood freind's words on the day of sneaking off to the VR training rooms, that day, Genesis would never forget it. If Angeal hadn't interrupted, the red leathered SOLDIER knew he would have had the upper hand in it all. The world certainly did need a new hero, one not so arrogant and fake.
That was Genesis' way of seeing it anyway, no one would convince him otherwise. Genesis was no fool, there was clearly some form of relationship between the two he was with judging by the girl's sudden flustered state. It was that, or she was another Sephiroth fan girl like all the other female SOLDIER's. That was doubtful though, she seemed different.
He was smirking on the inside as Sephiroth played the Angeal card, something he thought he would never do. It occurred to him, why was Sephiroth so keen to defend this girl? Unless... ah ha!
This was all too fun. And this was something Genesis could use to his advantage. "Who says I cannot, my friend? Surely, you don't doubt this lovely young lady's abilities now, do you?" oh yes, Genesis was indeed putting his manipulative skills to use, he would fight with this SOLDIER whether Sephiroth liked it or not. His next action would to perform a little flattery.
"She is worthy of going against a first class. I always thought that we, as the first classes, were to encourage those who rank lower than us," Genesis spoke in a sincere tone, only his words were just merely half true. He took his place behind Kyrie, placing one of his crimson gloved hands on his shoulder.
Getting on her good side whilst making Sephiroth appear like the high and mighty SOLDIER who thought those of lower rank were weak was very necessary for Genesis' little act. "Did you not hear before? Her opponent had done something unacceptable to her, for someone as low as he, deserves to be called weak, do you not care of this girl's feelings at all, Sephiroth? It seems you're becoming far too colder than usual," he spoke with a smirk, and then turned to Kyrie with a smile "don't worry, that SOLDIER will be punished for his pathetic actions, I assure you."
He would end it there, now he would only hope that his manipulation had taken affect.

Kyrie was still left standing there wondering why she was there with the two 1st Class SOLDIERs, it had first been Genesis to approach her, but now Sephiroth was coming over. What exactly was going on? Was she in trouble? Had she done something wrong?
Before she could think any further, her eyes widened at Sephiroth's next words. She took a short breath before stepping back from the two, eyeing them suspiciously. Was Sephiroth being serious when he said Genesis wanted to fi-... wait, what!? Genesis wanted to fight her? Really?
No, wait. That was bad, right? She was pretty sure she was rambling in her head right about now. Calm down, Ky, just get your head around this... But wait a moment, what was Sephiroth saying? A frown fell over Kyrie's face as she looked over at the silver haired SOLDIER, for some reason... her heart sank. Did he not believe in her or something? She wasn't tired, that attack on that idiot back then was nothing.
She then looked behind her as Genesis appeared there. Was he right? Was Sephiroth really doubting her abilities? Surely... he wouldn't after everything. No, he wouldn't... ugh, this was just hurting her head even more.
At least Genesis was saying that she could actually do something, he was encouraging. Then again, was he just saying it just so she'd fight with him? Either way, Kyrie wanted to fight. But Sephiroth's lack of belief was just kinda bringing her down. She peered over at Genesis hand on her shoulder, a light blush appearing in her cheeks. Well, that was unexpected, it wasn't the fact she liked him or anything, she respected him as a SOLDIER though.
Well, it didn't matter, she'd show Sephiroth one way or the other. "Either way, I accept!" she said firmly before walking off towards the VR Training Room "I'm perfectly capable of fighting one way or the other, so talking me out of it is not an option." Was she annoyed? Even she didn't know, but she did feel something in the pit of her stomach...

"No, I don't doubt Kyrie's skills, I view her as a very powerful young woman with huge potential. No, I doubt your ability to stay under control, Genesis." His voice had grown sharp. "You lose control so easily. That is why very few willingly take up your challenges. That is why everyone looks at you with fear, not admiration. It is why you receive no respect. They all fear you, they do not feel any sort of mutual respect for you. You do not understand self control. That is your failing..."
Fury had begun to pulse through his veins. Genesis, was no longer his friend, it was quite evident in the way the young man was behaving right now. Genesis was nothing more than yet another jealous SOLDIER, who had a knack for trying things he couldn't handle; who hated the Hero because of his status. What the hell did all those kind of people think?! That he actually enjoyed being stalked wherever he went? That he couldn't even breath without someone freaking out? That everyone would start gazing at him in admiration for merely sitting down or something? They didn't get it, they knew nothing... Absolutely nothing! Countless times a day, he wished he was normal, he wished he could just be a normal SOLDIER member with little or no publicity. But obviously, that wasn't going to happen.
And on top of it all, Genesis was putting on an act of actually caring about her. He didn't give a damn about kyrie; and this sparring match could end in no way except Kyrie getting hurt. That was something he could not bear. But now, Kyrie seemed to be offended by Genesis' implied reasoning that he doubted Kyrie. That was hurting him; it hurt that Kyrie though that he viewed her that way. It was... More... Lies... Humanity was disgusting.. Lying, manipulating, inferior scum... He knew he wasn't in their same class.
The uncontrolled fury was causing him to stiffen up, and his fists had clenched. It took all his self-control to refrain from summoning the Masamune to his left hand."Fine..." He practically hissed as he turned his back on both Genesis and Kyrie. "You two go ahead and fight... But I'm warning you Genesis... If she comes out of that room in any less-than-perfect state, I will be reporting you to Lazard; after I beat some sense into you myself. It's time you were put in your place, fool..."
He stalked away, silver hair flying as he moved to a certain roof support column. Leaning against this, he glared steadily at them both; but his rage was directing at Genesis, not Kyrie. How dare he... Despite his firm, calm, external appearance, his nerves were seething. Concern for Kyrie was taking over, and it was surrounded by his righteous fury with Genesis. The worthless piece of filth would never learn.

.:Fallen Angel:."My soul, corrupted by vengeance, hath endured torment to find the end of the journey, in my own salvation and your eternal slumber." Genesis' felt anger boil up inside of him when following Kyrie and listening to Sephiroth at the same time. He would never admit the truth in Sephiroth's words, but what did he know? Day by day, Genesis felt the gap between the two grow wider, their friendship was crumbling.
He let the silver haired SOLDIER's words sink in, the red leathered LOVELESS fan would not blow up right this moment and pull his sword out on Sephiroth. Genesis was sure that's what he wanted him to do, he would deal with his rival later.
"Very well, Sephiroth," his words expressed that he hadn't yet lost his composure, he would never give Sephiroth the pleasure of seeing him frustrated once again, the events at the Junon Cannon were more than enough. He had stopped just outside the doorway and smirked over his shoulder by the time Kyrie was gone from them both. "I can see you care a great amount for this girl, a little too much to know what could be residing within that cold heart of yours," he chuckled with a smug look on his face, Genesis was no fool. Sephiroth clearly had feelings for this girl, it was surprising, really.
He merely waved his hand at him to shrug him off. "If you're that worried, then stand and observe. Who knows, your opinion on dear Kyrie may even change," his tone showed he was trouble, but really, Genesis had no intention of harming Kyrie purposely.
Though he did like to see Sephiroth show weakness of any kind. Maybe Kyrie was his weakness.

For some reason, when Sephiroth spoke just then, Kyrie could feel her heart increase in rate. No, she wasn't acting like a fan girl... but... did he really think that of her? So... it was Genesis he didn't trust in battle, not her? But, surely he believed in her, at least a little... if so, what was the big deal? So what if she got hurt? During her mission with Zack once before she had returned far worst than what Genesis could do to her. She was perfectly capable of taking care of herself, she was a 2nd Class SOLDIER after all.
But listening to Sephiroth's next words only made her sigh, they weren't about her, but about Genesis. Did he really need to say it like that? Kyrie was well aware that Genesis was dangerous, she wasn't stupid. If she was worried or feared fighting him, she wouldn't have accepted. She really didn't know what to think.
She then walked inside the room, unaware that Genesis wasn't yet following her. Walking up to the panel, she typed in the coordinates to the desired battlefield, the room then slowly dissolved into the scenery of the Banora Orchards. Hopefully, this simulation match would go well, if not, at least others would think her brave to go up against a SOLDIER like Genesis... either brave or foolish.
"It all looks so real..." she smiled, spinning around to see the whole of her surroundings, even the village was not that far away from them, if this was real she probably would've run to her house. It was strange, really, only recently had she found out that she had lived in the same village as the SOLDIER she was about to fight against.
Kyrie just shook her head, still smiling as she took out her own personal sword "Fallen", she never really liked using those SOLDIER training swords, though unfortunately she had to obey the rules every so often. Surely... Genesis wasn't all that bad, if there was good in someone like Sephiroth, then maybe Genesis was the same.
Oh, well. She'd soon find out!
