A whirlwind of emotions and questions swirled in the silver haired Remnant's head. He had a sudden, odd impulse to laugh. Where had she recieved that insane notion? But, seeing the somber, pitying expression, he knew syhe thought she was telling the truth. "No... that can't be-" He trailed off, shaking his head numbly. Jenova had to be his Mother... right?
There was a small, almost unheard squeak and a grind of metal as a door at the top of the staircase opened to reveal his Brother Sepheroth... or... at least he thought he was his Brother. Was that wrong too?
"Yazoo, don't listen to Kyrie. Jenova is your mother. But... Jenova isn't mine. but that is a story to tell later. You are still my brother, and always will be."
Now that was something he could believe. Sepheroth would never lie to him, especially about this. "So you would lie to me about my Mother? Exactly what do you hope to gain from that?" Rage colored his voice as his hand dropped to his side to retrive Velvet Nightmare from its holster. "Give me one reason I shouldn't shoot you right here for what you said!"

Well, she had expected for Yazoo to shoot her right there on the spot, but it seemed her words startled him, then again, who wouldn't be? It was the truth though... Jenova was a calamity that fell from the skies, there were no records of her ever having children--...
Kyrie felt her heart leap as a sudden voice reached her ears, hearing it was only relieving for a very short while. What the hell!? Kyrie bit her quivering lip at Sephiroth's heart tearing words, he was trying to say she was lying to Yazoo? And her intentions were what exactly? She wasn't like that monster, Jenova, Kyrie wasn't filled with lies, deciet and hate!
It took all her will power to not unleash her inner Fire child, she couldn't shout at Sephiroth, she couldn't harm him, she wasn't afraid of the consequences or the fact that she probably wouldn't do much damage, but for the sake of her sanity she wouldn't do it!
Of course Yazoo would believe Sephiroth over her, she'd take her beating, she'd prove that her words had some meaning, that she was no coward nor liar regardless of what Sephiroth may do to her. "Feed him lies?" she spoke to Sephiroth calmly, her left fist shaking by her side as she held back tears thus causing her eyes to appear empty "I'm not Jenova, Sephiroth... I didn't lie to you like she did, like those ShinRa scientists did, so don't compare me to someone like her... mother or not, what kind of mother treats their child like a puppet..."
She just shook her head, turning her gaze to Yazoo. "I was injected with Jenova's cells years ago, after I was born, not during, but I still developed the stigma... just because I have the cells of a dark harbinger, that does not make that person my mother and that does not make me your sister!" she took a deep breath, despite this situation being unfair, two against one, Kyrie still stood strong "a true liar, a coward, would have fled right this moment given the situation, but I'm still here, against a once great Hero and his brother who could easily kill me without a word, but guess what? I'm still here, unafraid... that doesn't make me a fool... no matter how you put it..."
The more she spoke, the more pain it brought her fragile heart, why was Sephiroth doing this to her...? To say she was decieving Yazoo, he was fooling himself. Maybe he should admit to his brother Jenova's actions that time when he brought her back, did they seem very motherly?
When she looked back at Yazoo, and directly at Yazoo, she held some faith in her eyes, no doubt he would say killing an insect like her would be pointless, but still... she had to prove she was not the bad guy here, regardless of what Sephiroth said. "Give me one reason why you shouldn't..." she sighed, a soft breeze picked up and blew through her hair "I'm a stranger to you... killing me would be like killing another to you... I won't stop you from making that choice and I will stand here until you do, I won't apologies for what I said, I had every right to say it... shoot me if you wish, Yazoo... as much as I value my life, but I wouldn't put it on the line like this if I were lying... that would be foolish."

ooc: XD you shouldn't have said that, Kyrie.
bic:
"I'm not Jenova, Sephiroth... I didn't lie to you like she did, like those Shin-ra scientists did, so don't compare me to someone like her... mother or not, what kind of mother treats their child like a puppet..."
His already thin string of patience broke. The Masamune came to his hand, and he lunged at her. Grabbing the neck of her shirt, he thrust her against a wall, and the long sword rose. It was between him and Kyrie now, the edge pressing lightly against her exposed throat. One powerful held Kyrie to the wall, her feet were no longer touching the ground. The left hand held the Masamune expertly at such an angle... If he shifted it slightly, Kyrie's head would be severed from her body. His entire figure was trembling with outrage, the wing was spread ominously behind him, the fingers stretched to their fullest extent.
"You've been lying to me from the very beginning. Don't you dare insult Jenova... To put yourself above her is your greatest error. You are no better than she was... At least Jenova is honest... Jenova may not be my mother; but Yazoo, Kadaj, and Loz were bred from her and my cells. She is their mother, and you will not taint that honor, Human Scum... Do not speak about things which you do not understand..."
He pressed the edge of the Masamune harder against her neck, intending to split the skin at least a bit, it would be Kyrie's last warning. "Anything else you would like to say to us, young fool?"

Yazoo gritted his teeth in rage, feeling something inside him snap, not unlike as Sepheroth. "You dare insult Mother?" He hissed, voice low and dangerous. "You may believe your words to be true, but I know that they are far from it." His finger tightened on the trigger, but he dare not shoot until Sepheroth had finished her.
Despite the obvious rage on the outside, he felt an intense grief weling up inside him. He wasn't one to cry, like Loz, or Kadaj, on rare occasions, yet he still felt a saddness more intense than he was used to. Sepheroth and Kyrie were telling him two completely different things, which meant one of them had to be wrong. He trusted Sepheroth more than Kyrie, naturally, but he couldn't help but feel a prickle of doubt in the back of heart.
"She doesn't deserve last words if she insults Mother with the same mouth."

Sephiroth lunging at her didn't surprise Kyrie at all, why did he think she gave him the pleasure of even having the chance to grab her by the throat with his blade close to her. Her attention turned to Sephiroth, the man she had--... no, still loved, to many it would seem strange to see a woman smile so genuinely with love and warmth whilst being held by the throat with death threatening her.
"What's your definition of 'the beginning', Sephiroth? You mean the time when I wanted to see you, and soon... kissed," she said softly, no fear was held in her voice "or the time in SOLDIER, that particular dance... the Golden Saucer where we became such good friends, getting your hair wet just to win something for me to make me happy... is that 'the beginning' to you?"
The lies Sephiroth had been told, even he knew who had truly been lying to him this whole time, but insanity.. insanity took over once again. "To lie to the one you so dearly love... that would be considered a great sin..." she murmured softly, she knew she would never lie to Sephiroth, but still... "I would rather you kill me before I even begin to lie to you..."
Her gaze then turned to Yazoo, she winced slightly as the Masamune sliced her skin, a trickle of red slid down her neck, staining the white on her clothes, yet it wasn't enough to kill her. She just stared at him, no pity, though the look she gave him wasn't near close as the look of lovingness she gave Sephiroth, a light smile appeared. Whether Jenova was his mother or not, she knew he deserved better... no to be fed spoonfuls of deceit, that's how she saw Jenova feed her 'children', not baby food, but false hope, lies and deceit...
Kyrie was thinking of Yazoo and the rest of the remnants, did any of them really deserve to be treated like tools, just like Sephiroth was during his time at SOLDIER, just like she had also. Yazoo, Loz, and Kadaj... deserved a better future... but if searching for 'Mother' made them happy... what could she do? She always thought it was better to be hurt by the truth, rather than given false hope by lies...
Looking back at Sephiroth, she could see something glowing within his arm, Faith's Materia... it seemed to be reacting somehow, was it because of her? Or him? Still, it was strange...
Staying like this, Kyrie hadn't been aware of herself losing breath, everything was beginning to become a little hazy. "You do... what makes you happy... I just... don't want you... to get... hurt" she managed to say, it was more aimed at Yazoo though, her voice was barely a whisper, her eyelashes began to flutter, slowly closing and opening before closing completely as she lost conciousness... a tear slowly fell from her face.
"You'll always be my friend, Sephiroth, not for your looks, or for your reputation, but because I accept you for who you are, that includes even in your most worst moments, because if I don't want you in your worst moments, then I don't deserve to have you around at your best moments!"

The sudden glow in his arm reminded him.. He had completely forgotten the gift... Kyrie had given it to him all those years ago. His hand began to tremble, and the Masamune seemed to vibrate with his surge of emotions. It was all... Way too much... But as Kyrie mentioned kissing, that set his blood on fire again. Why had he ever fallen for her deceit way back then?! It had ruined him...
"My definition of beginning? It should be obvious to you... It was..." His voice broke off. She had lost consciousness. With a disgusted glare, he straighted up; letting Kyrie slide down the wall to rest at his feet. "Pathetic human beings..." He hissed, before turning away. He raised his arm, glaring at the silvery glow. furiously, he placed a hand over that glow, and retrieved the cursed stone. He glared at the Materia as it rested in his hand; it reminded him too much of Holy... With pure hatred, he flung the thing against the wall. It smashed into pieces, and the broken shards fell down to rest of Kyrie's still form. A fine silver dust appeared to have been left on the wall where it impacted.
He turned away completely, and walked towards Yazoo, Masamune held at ease in his left hand. "The scratch I left won't kill her. You do what you wish with her, Brother. It doesn't matter if you shoot her or let her live. It makes no difference to me."
He raised his eyes to gaze at the ceiling. He honestly didn't know every detail about how his brothers came to exist. But he did know that Lucrecia was certainly not their mother, as she was his. Jenova was all his brothers had, and he would support them every step of the way on their journies.

Yazoo watched Kyrie's form crumple to the ground as Sepheroth released her, a look of mingled rage and disgust. His finger tightened on the trigger once more. Only a fraction of more pressure, and the gun would fire. He could end her right then and there. It would be so simple.
And yet, he couldn't pull the trigger. His finger even shook slightly, as if holding the weight of the decision. No... he couldn't do it. If Sepheroth hated her so much, he'd end her himself. It was best not to step between it.
Or... maybe it was because of all the things she had said. Everything about her and Sepheroth. He couldn't quite being himself to believe it. He curled a lip in disgust and turned his shot to the wall nearest to him, and pulled the trigger. Well, he had to shoot something.
Casting one last look at Kyrie, he stalked back outide, silver hair flowing behind him.

Kyrie just lay there, it didn't take her long to gain conciousness, the wind would always be her side no matter what, always granting her air to breathe. Her eyes were half open, she was aware of her surroundings, yet she made no effort to get up, she just rolled onto her side, curling up into a ball.
She heard something shatter, then a shot being fired, yet... she was completely unharmed, as the glittering shards floated down upon her form, sadness and despair engulfed her heart. He had just destroyed something of importance, something she trusted him with... just like she had trusted him with her heart, was she truly a fool? Or did she just tolerate him because of how she felt?
As she promised though...
"I accept you for who you are, that includes even in your most worst moments, because if I don't want you in your worst moments, then I don't deserve to have you around at your best moments!"
She chose to stick to those words, never to break her promise, there was still so many promises he had made to her, but yet... he had not kept a single one... he hadn't kept the promise to never leave her...
Kyrie slowly opened out her hand, a light breeze swarmed the pieces back into its spherical shape, a small smile appeared on her face, the Materia appeared cracked, but it was still like any other Materia, she could never let something so precious break, but yet, she failed to prevent that to the one person who mattered to her now, the one person she had left who understood her in this world.
Would she always lose him to insanity? To dark thoughts? How much longer did he think she could do this? With a sigh, she took out the black feather, Sephiroth's oath, his promise... maybe it was time the promise end, but wouldn't she be letting him go? No... she'd still feel the same...
Slowly, she let her body become transparent, her feathers swarming once again as she floated off the ground, slowly towards Sephiroth, she couldn't touch him without her ghost-like frame going through him, so she just stood behind him, slowly making it seem she was hugging him from behind. "I'll always be with you..." she said softly to him, but with a heavy heart she placed his most beautiful feather that he had given her into his hand.
Before she grew too attached, she held in a sigh as she passed through his body, going after Yazoo. Once she appeared beside him, her gaze focussed on him. "I am sorry... if my words hurt you, I guess..." she looked back at the reactor, a thoughtful yet sad look appeared on her face "... sometimes you hurt the ones you care about, I don't want you to get hurt... I'm so sorry..."
Apologising may have been a hard thing, but Kyrie felt more bad about disrespecting Yazoo, not Jenova, nor Sephiroth, but Yazoo, and Yazoo only. "Heh... when you're surrounded by wanting to make others happy, you can't help but want to give that happiness to others over and over..." she looked down, though had no regrets with what she said about Jenova "take care of Sephiroth..." she made sure to say this to only Yazoo "as much as he says he can take care of himself... just don't let the darkness take over him, I think... right now, more than anything... he needs his brothers."
With one last smile, she walked on ahead, if anyone wanted her to stay, she would... though she highly doubted it...

Yazoo's gait was stiff with rage as he continued forward, gun still clamped firmly in one hand. Why didn't he kill her? Why didn't he even shoot her, just once? As soon as he was positive nobody could hear him, he let out a rage filled yell into the sky.
"I am so weak." He snarled to himself, clenching his hands into fists. The night still lie thich over them, and yet the moon had peekd out from behind the cloud cover and cast its silver rays down on the Remnant below, causing his identicl colored hair to glow in the light
"... sometimes you hurt the ones you care about, I don't want you to get hurt... I'm so sorry..."
Yazoo curled a lip, not breaking his stride. "You shouldn't care about me. Just take a third of Sepheroth, and you have me."

As soon as Yazoo went outside, he turned to follow his brother; only to halt as the breeze picked up. He spun around, the Masamune lashed out. It passed through the cloud of feathers, leaving a few of them torn. Then he felt her hug him from behind, and he leaped into the air; wings flaring out. He landed lightly on one of the experimental pods, and glared as the feathers flew out of the door.
There was a surge of protectiveness for his brother and he flew out of the door, staring around wildly and catching sight of Yazoo. He landed lightly next to his brother, the wind kicked up by his wing set both of their hair and clothes fluttering. The eyes fixed on Kyrie's feathery form, and he said furiously, "Get this through your thick skull, Kyrie... I don't want you... I don't need you to protect me from anything, I can take care of myself and my dear Brothers. You should just return to wherever you came from, and leave us be..."
He turned away from Kyrie, and faced Yazoo. "Brother... I know I can trust you, I love you as my brother. I know you will never intentionally let me down, I know you will be there when I need you. I want to repay you for that, I never got to thank you properly for helping to bring me back all those years ago, even if I failed to defeat Cloud; again. You name it Brother, and I will provide..." He smiled at his brother. "Tell me what you cherish most, my Brother... Give me the pleasure of giving it to you..."
He was pointedly ignoring Kyrie, his full attention was focused on Yazoo.

Yazoo stared openmouthed at Sepheroth, scarcely believing his ears. He truly believed that Sepheroth could give him anything he so desired, but was shocked at the offer. Well, no use letting such generosity fall on deaf ears, hm?
At first, he wasn't sure what he desired so much, that he had no chance of getting himself. Blinking slowly, his brain focused onto one thing that he'd wanted so badly. Yes, he knew the only one thing he truly desired above all else. "Wings, Brother. That is all I desire." the silver haired Remnant said quietly, gazing directly back into the eyes of his Brother.

Kyrie stopped for a moment at Sephiroth's words, of course they hurt her heart, but she understood... he didn't need her anymore, he had his brothers... she was nothing to him anymore, it almost made her feel, no... not jealous, but unwanted, that sent Kyrie into the deepest, darkest depths of depression, not once did her sanity break, the only thing that did... was her heart...
She didn't want to think that she was a tool to him all this time, but that's what it felt like... first SOLDIER, then Rufus... and now Sephiroth, who swore to protect her... to love her... maybe it wasn't Yazoo being fed lies, but her. He didn't need her, she had to keep reminding her of that, there was no more hope left... she had lost him...
All this sadness, all this pain... would never wash away, she had always been there for everyone she loved and cared for, they repaid her by leaving her.
"You should just return to wherever you came from, and leave us be..."
How could she? She was like him, wasn't she? Looking for answers, wanting to know who she was and where she belonged... but if he wanted her to just disappear, his wish was her command. Unlike Sephiroth, Kyrie was mentally stronger than him, she knew she always would be, he'd always dwell on memories, believe the same lies over and over, and always let insanity control him rather than him controlling the insanity.
She had said and done all she could, only to wish that Yazoo would listen to her and stop Sephiroth from making any bad choices... Yazoo didn't possess Sephiroth's insanity, that was Kadaj's job... the reason why she trusted Yazoo was because he was intelligent and calm, not rash... she knew that much...
Kyrie didn't bother giving Sephiroth the pleasure of seeing her face one last time, not that it would make much of a difference... he'd only despise her...
"You don't know what you have until its gone..."
Such words echoed in her mind, once spoken by her father, Kyrie had already lost so much, maybe... for once... Sephiroth would know how it feels, if not due to her, but due to losing his brothers, she didn't want that kind of pain to be bestowed upon him... but... at least he'd know...
With a sigh, Kyrie's ghostly form began to fade until it was completely gone, her white feathers... which appeared slightly cloudy were carried away by the wind.

He admitted, he was a bit surprised. Out of everything in the world, Yazoo wanted to be given the sky, flight... Wings. He gazed briefly at his own wing, the Majesty, the beauty, the freedom it symbolized... Maybe it wasn't that big of a shock to know that Yazoo wanted it. Many would...
He smiled, and gazed deep into his brother's identical eyes. "Then you shall have them, Yazoo. I gave wings to another about a week after I returned... I can do it again, probably with more ease, for you. All we need to do is return to the Shin-ra building, and break into one of the laboratories." He paused, uncertainty flashing in his eyes for the first time. "Are you sure it is what you want? To be gifted with wings, you will endure much pain as it first grows. The pain will last only about a minute, but it would be enough to make most go insane with agony. It will be able to fly you as soon as it's fully grown in, but it would be sore and you will have to take it easy for about a week. Do you truly wish to test your endurance now?"
It was true. That woman to whom he had given flight had been curled up on the ground, screaming in agony as her wing burst from her right shoulder. She had been a strong young woman... He didn't doubt that Yazoo could handle it, but he wasn't sure if he wanted to watch his brother go through the same thing...
It wasn't until then that he became aware of Kyrie leaving. Her feathery form was taken up into the sky, and he watched it through narrowed eyes. He could feel his heart trembling with satisfaction, yet part of it seemed to die right then. There was pain, and he had to force himself not to show it. It was his own heart that had finally broken at last... The wounds it held had been healed only briefly, and now they were reopening again... Whether he liked it or not, he would not be able to get Kyrie out of his head for good. But, he would suffer through it... It was the fate of a Monster... Never truly being happy, forever wandering. And he welcomed the coming darkness.
His attention turned back to Yazoo, awaiting his Brother's answer. If Yazoo was serious about the gift of the sky, then Sephiroth wouldn't hesitate to present that gift to him. But would Yazoo survive through the pain of the transformation?

Uncertainty flashed for a brief moment in Yazoo's green eyes. He wasn't sure the pain Sepheroth described would be worth a single wing. But as his mind wandered to the possibilities, the thought reassured him even more. The grace, the beauty, the magesty. All of it could be his for this one small price. "Yes, Brother. I can handle any amount of pain for the gift of the skies." All traces of uncertainty was gone, only an excited feeling of longing for the transformation to take place.
His mind wandered back to Elstan for a reason he couldn't comprehend. When she had carried him through the skies, he briefly felt what it was like to have wings. The sheer freedom was unforgettable, even in that brief taste. Never again would he watch her fly through she skies with his feet rooted to the ground, feeling that horrid jealousy fill his body like a virus. No... he could be alongside her, feeling lighter than air and freer than ever.
Yes... this was what he truly desired.

He studied Yazoo for a moment, watched his reactions. Yazoo was strong, and his words were strong... But there was something behind that determination to fly. Suspiciously, the cat-like mako-green eyes fixed on his brother's face, gazing deep into the identical eyes of his brother. He could see... Warmth? Joy? Hope? Since when had his brother harbored such feelings? But as Sephiroth searched his own mind, following that thread link that symbolized Yazoo... he became aware of a painfully familiar feeling... That same warmth, desire... He sheltered those very same feelings deep in his own heart... Yet he was trying to hide from those feelings. As he delved deeper into his and Yazoo's mind, a sudden image of Kyrie's face flashed in his own. Then he saw a face he recognized in Yazoo's mind... It was Elstan, and she was surrounded by those feelings of protective... Dare he say the word? Love...
Sephiroth pulled away from his connection with Yazoo, feeling pain well up in his heart as he thought of Kyrie. His black wall if insanity just couldn't hold back his feelings anymore. His hate and disappointment in how Elstan had turned out still sent angry ripples through his veins. But... If Yazoo was truly in love with Elstan, he had no right to get angry about it... He was guilty of the same thing. Even now, he could feel Jenova's anger in the far corner of his mind. This just wasn't right... But... It had happened, and it wouldn't be reversed.
Sephiroth reached both of his hands froward, and rested them on Yazoo's shoulders. "Do not try to hide from me, brother. I know your secret, and I will be happy to provide you with flight; so that you may dance through the skies with Elstan. One day, Kadaj will also join us in the sky. Now, hold on to my arms... I am going to bring you to what's left of the Shin-ra laboratories. Then, we shall begin the test to grant you wings."
His own, perfect wing furled and unfurled, warming up for the coming flight. There was a small cloud of black feathers as he rose into the air, soon wrapping his arms around his brother's waist. He was quite light. The One-Winged-Angel rose into the dark sky, bring Yazoo with him. The wing beat silently against the air as he turned toward Midgar.
