The clomp of traditional wooden sandals echoed down the halls of the house of worship. The night had fallen and most people had gone to bed, but this one person, devoted to their gods, wanted some uninterrupted time giving thanks and praise to their makers. Outside the sliding doors, insects chirped and the occasional bull frog gave a throaty retort. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Using a single candle, the worshiper quietly, as quiet as wooden sandals can be anyway, made their way to central chamber of worship. Proceeding from there, many incense candles were lit. Soon, a low glow surrounded the room, filling the air with sweet aromas. The lone worshiper knelt down on a reed pad and bowed their head, beginning to pray and give thanks to their gods.
~
Perhaps an hour later, the lone person stood and moved about, extinguishing the candles until there was only one left. With the candle in hand, the worshiper returned to the halls and began their short journey back to their room. As they walked, the ring of metal began to come to their ears. Moving with greater speed, the worshiper closed in on the sound of the striking of metal.
They reached a door leading to the main courtyard before the temple and watched in silent astonishment as a lone fighter faced off against several monsters. From the looks of them, they appeared large and ape like. Wedingos... a native of the hills. As the watcher gazed over the monsters, their attention returned to the fighter, a glowing blue... gunblade in his hands? With the flash of a smile and a slight laugh, the fighter leaped at the monsters, six tall and fierce things that they were.
The fighting was over in a matter of seconds, the monsters cut down by the skillful hands of the lone fighter. With a larger yet smile, the fighter rested his weapon on his shoulder and turned towards his watcher. "Sorry there... Didn't mean to wake you up Priestess. I'll be movin' along then." The man said with a nod of his head. A smile flashed on his face before he turned on his heel and walked into the night, vanishing from sight as the night engulfed him.

The young princess waited out side her fathers chamber, she waited and waited, pacing back and forth waiting to hear her fathers words. The night was beautiful, she heard one of her lady's maids say. She wanted to go out side, but alas her father wanted to speak to her. She quickly moved a piece of her bangs away from her face, and shifted her eyes on the door. Then she thought to herself: " What is taking them so gosh darn long!? don't they know I'm a princess!" She was still a child in the eyes of the people of Wutai, not fit to rule the kingdom.
Suddenly as she let out a sigh, the door swooshed open! And out stepped a guard. The guard had short black hair, and spoke softly: " You may go in now, my princess..." with a bow. Little did Yuffie know she was about to get the disappointment of her life. As Yuffie walks towards the throne of her father, she couldn't help but feel shivers go down her spine. She felt as if the goddess of Wutai was watching down on her from the life stream, the waters buried deep within the planet. She felt the sweat run down her neck and face, but she proudly placed her hands on her hips and said: "HIYA POPS!"
Godo was almost bald. He was short and fat, once tall and lean at one point in time, but then after Kusami died ( Yuffie's mother ) He...well let's just say let himself go. Godo looked up at Yuffie and said. " You are a disgrace to the people of wutai, I want you out..." Yuffie could not believe her ears, she had heard what she knew all along, the her own father wanted Sasamie as ruler, queen of wutai and not his own blood...
Yuffie ran out in tears, then...she heard something, and saw a figure approach in the darkness...but who could it be? she ran closer to the dark figure, and waited in the darkness...

The night, other then the little scuffle just ten minutes before, had been pretty much uneventful. The lone fighter, now recognized as Leon Leonhart, walked about with a moot expression. There were few people out tonight that were walking the large expanse of the oriental village of Wutai. Several people Leon tried to talk to shied away and walked just a tad faster, trying to get away from the foreigner with the sword. Almost everyone carried a sword now-a-days, monsters and all... but because Leon carried it on his hip, apparently told him off as a dangerous person.
So, with ultimately nothing to do, Leon began to wonder around, admiring the sights that were there to offer in the village. It was quaint, that much was certain, but like he had seen before, not much to offer. Leon couldn't go get hammered because the strongest stuff they had was weak in comparison to things he had sampled. He was a connoisseur of fine tastes, but then again, he did drink rot gut every now and again. Nothing like a good kick in the taste buds, Leon thought to himself. He sighed and continued on his obscure path, not entirely paying attention to where he was wondering.
Before he knew it, however, Leon wandered into the royal quarters, just outside of the main tower. Leon looked up with a smirk, wondering to himself the mysteries of a shogunate. But, before Leon could contemplate the advantages as well as disadvantages, a young girl came running out of the building, her eyes wet with tears. She apparently saw him, as she ran towards him. With a cocked eyebrow, Leon placed his hands on his sides and looked about. Maybe she was the daughter of a noble. No no... to well dressed for something like that. A minister? Nope... close, Leon thought.
Then the realization hit him. The daughter of the shogun Godo, Yuffie, the princess of Wutai. He had heard many things about the two, how Godo use to be an un-paralleled fighter, able to stop even the mightiest of dragons. Now... after the death of his wife, he has stopped caring altogether, bent on only one thing, the propagation of his dynasty. Leon sighed openly and shook his head. "You OK, m'dear?" Leon asked, offering a hand to the girl. No sense in being an arse tonight. She was upset and looked like she needed a friend. "Anything I can help with?" He said to her, a southern drawl coming into his voice.

The young girls eyes filled with tears to the brim, the moonlight showed it on her face. She thought about how cruel her father was that night, and watched as the mans hand approached her. Yuffie shifted her eyes up on the man who offered his hand. She admired his face not showing it upon her own. She just looked at him and shook her head. She then thought to herself: "Who the heck does this guy think he is?!"She smirked slightly and placed her hands on her hips and proudly looked up, tears in eyes still, but who would notice that? " I'M YUFFIE KISARAGI! PRINCESS OF WUTAI!! DAUGHTER OF LORD GODO AND KUSAMI!"
She wiped her nose slightly and glared, she poked him in the stomach. "AND WHO THE HECK ARE YOU?!" Yuffie waited for a reply but was to impatient. " And no everything is fine.." She said looked off and down to the left away from him."..Wutai...is just great..." She turned away from him thinking: " I hate stuck up little pretty boys!" She looked back at him and winked. " I can see your the type of guy who would just love to talk to a babe like me...But I have stuff ta do buddy..." She then waved him off.
Yuffie started to walk away and then something happened,She heard her people shout and scream. She heard them all shout to the guards for help. She saw women running with their children in their arms. " How can this be happening so late at night!?" Yuffie said out loud. She quickly grabbed his hand and went to run. but then, a monster came out of know where and attacked her making her fall to the ground. " GAAAH!!!! SWEET MOTHER OF MIDGAR!!!" She quickly grabbed her shuriken, but it was to late. The monster had already pinned her to the ground. She then looked up at the man who had offered his hand to her.
" If you want to help...NOW WOULD BE THE TIME..." she said sarcastically.

Leon was already on the move, even before the monster had fully come down to earth. With his sword ringing as it whipped out of its sheath, Leon split the monster from tail to head, pulling the girl out of the way of the falling body. Finally, Leon thought, things were getting interesting. Pulling her to her feet, Leon winked at her and dashed off, a group of monsters having cornered some of the local populace. With practiced ease, Leon ducked into the middle of the group of attackers and made short work out of each of them. One by one the bodies fell, dissipating into nothingness.
Once that group had been taken care of, Leon scanned the immediate area for hostiles, his military training kicking into full now. Three towering brutes were slowly making their way down the road. Calling upon the innate magics around him, Leon fired several orbs of energy at them, engulfing two of them and dazing the third. With sword in hand, Leon made short work of the last foe. With a blade to the head, Leon cleaved through the last monster and continued on.
Through several districts, Leon went about, cutting down the enemies he could find, saving people who still fled from him, even after saving their arses... Impotent fools... Leon thought to himself. He shook his head to clear his thoughts and went about double checking the areas he had cleared. Once he was satisfied with his work, Leon moved on to the final area of the village. Running in was no problem, but once he was in, the large gates that he had just momentarily passed through, slammed closed behind him. Standing on either side of the door were two white and black robed fighters, each whelding identical crescent swords.
With a bow, one of the two, the white robed fighter dashed towards Leon, throwing themselves into a powerful sword fight. A scowl formed on Leon's lips as he understood that this fighter was nearly or as skilled as he was in sword fighting. Man... I sure hope some help comes along right quick. If that second one hops in, I don't really know what's gonna happen. Leon thought to himself as he parried a stab at his side.

Yuffie could not believe her eyes this so called "pretty boy" was more then what he was cut out to be. She looked up at him from the ground as he jerked her up to her feet, she wiggled and wobbled, then looked at him."..I..." her face turned red as a wink appeared on his eye, she watched him run off and extended her hand."WAIT!!! IT ISN'T SAFE!!! " She ran after him as quickly as she could. the night air was tearing at her open skin. The wind was quick and almost as dull as a sharp blade, screams of women and children all around her, she spotted him running into a closed off gate. " N-NO!!! NOT THERE!!!" She ran but it was to late...
The door slammed shut, and the monsters were locked in on the other side with him. She had to act quick, but what could she do? even her father saw her as worthless. But then it came to her...she would have to break her way through the caged bars of the gate... She grabbed her shuriken and started to bust the caged bars when she saw him take a stab." NO!!!" she shouted and squeezed her small body onto the other side cutting herself. She had to do something.
She back flipped in front of him and took a battle stance looking the monster in the eye. She then turned back and smiled at him. " You didn't think you could take all the fun did ya?" she winked at him. and waited for his reply...

Leon noticed out of the corner of his eye as Yuffie made her entrance to the fight. Sighing inwardly, Leon threw back his opponent, separating them from each other. The fighter, acknowledging the entrance of another fighter, bowed and turned to their partner. They bowed as well and their blade flashed. "Shit..." Leon swore as the two cloaked fighters dodged between each other and began to press for an assault.
With his gunblade in hand, Leon opened his empty hand and moved Yuffie to the side. A glowing red-orange orb flickered to life in his hand, growing in size instantly. With a snap of his wrist, Leon whipped the orb at the two fighters, who tried to dodge to the side, but were caught in the conflagration of the fireball. This only slowed them, as well as burned away a portion of their cloaks. This seemed to matter little to them, as they tore off their cloaks and proceeded with bare upper bodies. They were humanoid, of a kind, but more animalistic in appearance. "Werewolves... Great..." Leon said, muttering with a disapproving gaze.
With a shake of his head, Leon walked forward, his sword touching the ground with the tip. All around the tip of the sword, swirls of mist began to form, climbing into the air and surrounding Leon. "Alright, let's play hard ball..." Leon said, an evil smile spreading across his face. A flash in his eyes told both of his opponents that he was done playing. The mist, which had formed a great cloud now, began to solidify and shot forward, spikes of ice shooting towards the two monsters. Several of the shards of ice impaled the what was black robed monster, taking it down with ease. It lay still perhaps twenty feet back. The other, obviously more agile then its counterpart, hopped around the attack and snarled fiercely, looking quickly at its dead partner and then back to Leon. Bad choice. As it turned to face Leon again, his blade caught the creature on the inside corner of its face, cleaving right through its snout and skull, sending it sprawling with half a head a good number of feet away.
"There... Now that the trash it taken care of..." Leon said before turning on the girl. "Next time, m'dear, don't hop down in dramatically. Though it helps to throw off the enemy, it makes it just a tad harder to fight. Though I do thank you for the help." Leon said with as kind smile. "Now... I'm thinkin' that you might want to head home Princess Yuffie. 'Taint right for you to be seen with a commoner." Leon said before turning on his heel and walking off again, stepping over the vanishing corpses of the werewolves. Strange night... Leon mused as he walked, sheathing his gunblade in it's sheath. Yuffie could not believe her eyes! This guy had taken all the fun away! " Y-YOU LITTLE!!!" She said with a stomp of her foot, she hated it when guys did that, they always took all the fun away from her in a battle. ( And it didn't happen much around here, her being a princess and all) Her jaw dropped as she watched him turn and walk away. Thrusting her arm into the air, she began to shake it in an act of rage. " COME BACK HERE YOU!!...YOU....NO GOOD DIRTY SON OF A ...." She stopped and ran after him. She hated it when things like this happened..But then the thought struck her: She couldn't go home, her father didn't want her to come back.
" W-wait..." she said as she grabbed his arm.
Yuffie needed help, maybe this guy could talk to her father, or at least apologies for what he did...YEAH! this big dumb dumb took away a good fight! And one she needed to get her anger out. " I can't go back home..." She said in a sad voice. " I don't have one, not till I can clear my name..."
Yuffie still wasn't sure what this guy could do, but it was worth a shot. " Hey....what's your name again?" She said as she tilted her head off to the side cutely.
( ooc: You may of noticed that I only highlight some stuff, I have good reason lol, 1: I'm lazy. 2: The thing doesn't always work right, dun judge meeeeeeee.. >.>; )

She caught his arm and her voice dropped. Not a good sign. With the smile still on his face, Leon listened to what she had to say, putting a few things together. Then, when she asked for him to remind her what his name was, he laughed. "I don't think I've introduced myself. Terribly sorry bout that. The name's Leon... Leon Leonhart. I know it sounds redundant, but that's me name." Leon said with a small bow. " Master Gunblade fighter, magician, and captain, all in one package, m'lady. Now, I'll tell ya what..." Leon said, waving for Yuffie to come closer.
~If Yuffie did come closer, Leon, either way, whispered behind his hand.~ " I'll help ya find a way to clear your name. Its easier to find things with people that are willing to help ya out." Leon said, the smile on his face never leaving it for an instant. "C'mon," he said, as he stood up and hopped up onto a building near by. "We'll go to my ship and we'll figure out a way for you to get back into the good graces of whoever it is." He was already moving, jumping from tall roof to tall roof.
Soon, if Yuffie was following him, Leon was in the foot hills outside of Wutai, quietly climbing a rise. Soon, he stood atop the crest of the rise, looking down over the hills and valleys before him. Nestled in the shadow of a grouping of hills, Leon's star-ship, the Ragnarok, sat proudly. "Cid'd be jealous of this in a heart beat." Leon said quietly, chuckling to himself. He hopped down the semi-shear drop to a grouping of rocks and from there, to the bottom of a crevice that led directly to the ship. As Leon approached, the main entrance ramp descended and allowed Leon and Yuffie, if she wasn't too petrified looking at the ship, entrance to the interior. "C'mon!" Leon said, beaconing to the interior of the ship.

Yuffie just looked him over thinking: " That's not really a bad name, kind of funny but so is Godo" She found it silly how he had known her name but he didn't had enough nerve up until now to tell her his. She brushed a piece of hair behind her ear and listened as he whispered. A smile crossed over her face."And you are willing to help me?" She watched as he started off on his way to god knows where! " H-HEY!!! " she ran after him. "SLOW DOWN WILL YA LEON!!!" She quickly ran to the foot of the mountain. She looked at the air ship and tried to pronounce the name written on the side."Rag-na-rok...?" she said under her breath. she then listened to him talk, not really listening due to wanting to know what the name of this thing was! she had never seen one before! and then she heard something about a man named Cid.
"Who the heck is Cid!?"
Yuffie then watched him motion to inside the ship.
"Got no where else ta go....so why the heck not..." She ran over to Leon and pushed him. "TAG YOUR IT!!" But then she ran inside then quickly ran back out. "IT'S DARK IN THERE!!!... there an't no way.." It then started the rain. " GAAAAAAAAH..WET WET WET WET!!!!" And she ran back in.

Leon laughed as Yuffie pushed him as she ran up, then quickly back down the ramp, then back again, complaining about the rain. At the top of the ramp, as Leon's foot passed the threshhold into the interior of the ship itself, the lights came almost instantly to life, sheading its gaze over all the inside of the compartment. Mainly in the space that Leon, and presumably Yuffie, were in was made up of storage containers, as well as machineary and tools. Leon's general work space for his exparaments and whatnot.
"Now, because it's raining, and we're in a narrow valley, the water's going to come into the general area fairly quickly. I'm going to head up to the cockpit and start the engines up. We're going to need to relocate to ensure that we don't get swamped in here." Leon explained. With a snap of his fingers, the ramp they had entered the ship with began to roll back silently, and closed with a slight hiss. Now that the area was sealed, the area pressureized and the heaters began to fire, warming the slightly cool air in the bay. "I'm going to take the gravity lift over here to the cockpit. You're more then welcome to come along, but if you do, I'm going to need you to take a seat in the cockpit and buckle up." Leon said with a smile. Then, turning on his heel, Leon walked to the anti-gravity lift tube set into the middle of the central wall, between two closed sliding doors, and rode up quickly and quietly to the cockpit.
Once there, Leon hopped into the pilot's chair and began the normal procedure for lift off. Hitting different switches and pressing a series of buttons, as well as typing in commands to a central computer, Leon began to rotate the turbines in the main engines. Slowly, heat began to pour out of the main exhaust gussets in the thrusters and the engines were running smoothly at a waiting status. Toggleing the lift boosters, Leon brought the large ship into a stationary hover, but soon opened the throttle and the huge ship lifted off cleanly and quickly, gaining altitude and speed quickly. The main fission generator was running at optimal levels and the backups showed green across the board. Leon patted the consol before him thoughfully and smiled in appreciation at the level of care he was able to put into the ship of his. With several modifications to the sub-space engines, Leon had increased the optimal output of the ships main functions significantly, without dampenind the output of the engines themselves.
Soon, the ship was crusing smoothly above the clouds, a blazing sunrise before him as he sat in the pilots chair. If Yuffie had decided to join him, Leon was oblivious to her, enjoying the sights around and infront of him. He loved the sunrise. As well as the sunsets and being able to look up at the stars on clear nights, or when he went to the observation deck in the Ragnarok. It was peaceful, but the mood wasn't quite right. Pressing several keys on the keyboard built into the arm of the pilots chair, Leon opened up several albums of music. Soft jazz soon began to filter through the speakers in the cabin and Leon's smile widened. Now it was right. A good way to both end and begin a day with.
