Damani, or Dezzy as she was now calling herself after the nickname she had been given in her own life, walked through the streets she now knew why she had memories of. Her life had changed in a matter of weeks, days even. Well, at least her new life had. She now had magic as a weapon and no computer in her head to mess with the memories that flowed freely into her consciousness.
She chuckled. This is where she had first met Alex, the one who was supposed to be her teacher and her friend. He had disappeared without giving even a small reason, and now she was traveling by herself. She knew she should be trying to find him, but she wanted to go to Midgar first. Something was pulling her soul here, it seemed. She let out a sigh, resting her hand on her gun. She had done some major modifications to it during her stay at Fort Condor. It now held almost double the amount of rounds it could before and was capable of holding multiple types of magic rounds. She had taken a day trip to Junon to get herself a new sword and ask about Alex's whereabouts, but she wasn't satisfied with the slightly heavier katana she had chosen. It was nice to be able to feel the weight in her hand, but it just didn't feel right to her.
So now she was short of two things; someone to teach her how to use her magic properly (she had left a nice little crater in the marshes along with three fried Midgar Zoloms) and a decent sword to fight with. She flexed her hand, marveling, not for the first time, how much power they were able to release. She had figured out she had two elements that she could use easiest; Lightning and Holy. The other elements were harder, and some near impossible to control for her. She looked at the messenger bag she had slung across her body. It held a few potions and a very thick book she had purchased at the recommendation of 'The Voice'. She had a voice in her head that was almost like her alter ego that talked to her quite often.
The Voice had told her about her 'Blood Magic' and her elemental relations and anything else she had needed to know, claiming it was the basis for everything Alex would teach her in the future, and that it would save him time later on. She reached in the pack to rest a hand on the magical book. The book had powers of its own and seemed to react to her own powers. It was a source of guidance and comfort for her now, at least until she found a sword that would act as her old sword had before her new body. Another sigh escaped her lips as she scanned the area for any sign or reason she should even be here...
((OOC: Sorry, I wasn't planning it to be that long!!))

A tall, scar-covered man walked through the desolate Midgar. With little else on but a vest and a pair of pants, the man had long bond, spiky hair tied into a ponytail, with red streaks that looked like blood going through. With a sinister-looking sword strapped to his back, a chain coming from the hilt was wrapped around his left arm with just enough slack to offer comfortable mobility. On his right arm, he had a heavy-looking black gauntlet on. His youthful face was handsome except for the three scars along his right cheek. He looked as if he had been thrown through a pit of razors. Most of the people around him would either look at him with fear of malcontent. He was obviously dangerous.
Cal scoffed at the thought of being socially acceptable. If he didn't remember who he was anymore, what did it matter what people thought of him? At least, that was the logic he would have liked to have. Truthfully, the torment of recently discovering the truth of his past and the loss of his friends and family due to Pryme began to corrode his usually care-free demeanor. That happy young man was gone, replaced by a seasoned killer who was shaped from the pain and torment of loss.
Cal was in Midgar again, trying to find a lead on Pryme. He had learned from a Genesis copy not long ago that Pryme was the man behind many of the events that led to his creation and the devastation of the world. It was him who made Jenova easy to find for ShinRa. It was he who convinced Rufus' father to wage war on Wutai. It was him. Pryme supposedly was the one behind many of the terrible events in the history of the world, and he, Genesis, and even Sephiroth were all just pawns in the big scheme of things.
In all honesty, Cal thought the majority of it was bullshit, but he came to Midgar for vengeance. It was Pryme's fault he was a monster. It was Pryme who had Gongaga destroyed. It was Pryme who convinced the first incarnation of avalanche to destroy his home and Corel. Pryme.
Cal would have his vengeance sooner or later.
But as he walked, he noticed a girl staring at him. She had the presence of a warrior, but a sense of hopelessness about her. Not that she wasn't capable... as a matter of fact she seemed more than capable... but she also seemed to be at a loss.
Not that he should care. He'd rather use his psychic powers to find Pryme and cu the bastard in two, but he couldn't even pick up a trail....

Damani's gaze fell onto the scarred man. "Do not tell me my sign is some tall, creepy guy," she murmured to the sky, knowing it would not answer back. She had enough experience in both of her lives to know not to approach any warrior without thinking it through. Personally she preferred to let people come to her; if they didn't want her around they would leave and she wouldn't have to fight. Right now was one of those times she didn't feel like fighting, especially without a decent sword to fight with.
She simply watched him. Physically he was a bit bigger than her, though size meant nothing to her now. She was faster and stronger than most of the larger enemies she had come across, especially with her magic. Just by her quick estimates she was pretty sure she would be able to take him on and most like beat him. She wasn't quite ready to admit she wasn't as comfortable in this new body as she was in her old one. She two a few tentative steps forward, not sure if this was the best idea she ever had.

"Hello, Damani." Said Cal, without even looking in her direction. In fact, he seemed to be staring into the sky. As he kept staring up, he continued to speak, "I have important information for you. A man known as Pryme is attempting to seize control of our planet. He is currently building a massive army, using our genetics. Apparently, you're a hard woman to find."
Cal looked into her eyes, and continued speaking. "Listen. I nearly died trying to find an answer of who I was. Out of this need, I discovered something more important than myself... the frightening idea that we could all be doomed. I wouldn't have found you if Pryme didn't keep such damn good records... and that's the problem. The man responsible for nearly every major conflict in this world's history is moving to his coup de grace. He will kill us all, unless we find others like us who possess superior powers like ourselves."
Cal looked deep into the woman's eyes. Hopefully she would believe him. So many others have fought and nearly killed him in the past few days, and tracking thes people down was becoming tiresome. Please, thought Cal, let her be the smartest one so far.

(How the hell does he know my name? I don't remember him at all...) she approached him now with a little less caution. She listened to what he was saying. "Yeah, we're all doomed, so what? Sooner or later everyone's going to die anyways," she said with a raised eyebrow. "We all live and die, and the Planet is no different. Who am I? Damani Fayth, also known as Dezzy Fay. I'm two people in one body. I don't need to ask who I am. I don't even need to ask what I am."
She looked at the ground. "I'm sorry, I can't help you. I have to find my friend and mentor, as well as a sword that's fit for my new body. I have absolutely no training in my new-found powers and my control is limited. Until he can teach me how to use them; I'd rather just find him, do my training and deal with the 'doom of the Planet' some other day," she said, looking back at him with cold eyes. "I once loved a man that was considered a threat to the Planet, and I'd rather not get involved with the Planet any further than I have so far. Last time it winded up in me being dead and transferred into a different body. I spent over a year absolutely oblivious to who I really was. I refuse to do that again." She turned and began to walk away.

"Damani," said Cal. "Alex is in danger too. I'm warning you, be careful... this isn't just about the planet, this is about the ending of life itself. Believe me, i could give two shits about living and dying... but to end that cycle permanently? That's just..." and before Cal could finish his sentance, a copy of himself attacked him. Cal, having fought himself so many times, quickly beheaded himself and tried to follow Damani. Unfortunately, for the both of them, a massive, incredibly strong dragon burst through the street and began to fly above them.
"Dammit. I am really getting sick of fighting these assholes."

Damani sighed, glancing back at the dragon and sent a ball of light back at it, obliterating it. She sighed softly, turning and looking at him. "First of all, who are you and how the hell do you know my name? Second of all; why the hell are there all these things after you? I have enough trouble as it is, I don't need more," she said to him. "Besides, I'm fairly sure Alex can handle himself and that he doesn't need my help with anything. I'm the one who needs his help."

<don't you think that's a little overpowered?>
Cal looked at her, and began laughing insanely.
"You think you really have some sort of idea what you're dealing with? You think, because you and alex are so powerful, you can just deal with any threat that comes along? This guy... Pryme... he's stronger than jenova ever was... he's stronger than you, me, sephiroth, or any other sort of creature you can possibly fathom out of the deepest recesses of your mind. What you just did to that dragon? That's what he'll do to any of us if we get on his bad side. Hell, you should see what he did to Cloud... I wouldn't wanna be on the receiving end of that blast. It's a friggin' miracle he survived... So don't you patronize me, not because I simply want to see our world last a little longer. Simply because, I don't feel that we should lose our freedom to some supernatural freak whose idea of a good time is manipulating the world into some morbid idea of a sick play. He want's to create the world's 'greatest tragedy' if you will. He want's to end existence, and move onto another world to destroy that too. You thought what the meteor did was devastation? He makes that look like a piece of cake. Being his slave truly was a disturbing aspect of living... and having all of MY power, all of MY strength, which was at one point at least equal to yours, stolen for the sick bastards warped idea of fun..."
Cal sighed. He hadn't intended to become so angry, but truly, if he didn't get the message through, they'd all end up as helpless as him. They'd have to train twice as hard, like him, just to become that strong again. And for what? To have their powers stolen? This threat needed to end NOW, and anyone concerned with self aspiring idiots like genesis or Sephiroth was going to get decimated... including the two lunatic villains themselves. Was it even possible to convince anyone? Or would Cal just need to wait until everyone was losing their powers. Maybe Cloud would listen to him, because all of these other super-strong folks were really testing his patience.
"Look, I don't even care anymore. If you wanna go on about your life, and end up like me, go ahead. I'm warning you though, it won't end well. Trust me, with great power comes dire consequences. Unfortunately, if we don't keep the balance, every few hundred years a crazy SOB like Pryme gets the bright idea to end the world."
And with that, Cal lit a cigarette and stared up into the sky again. It was very clear that he didn't quite care anymore about her answer... he'd just have to kill the bastard himself. Train harder... get his old strength back...

((OOC: the point is that she doesn't have control over her powers right now so there's like a major outflow. If she did that again she'd end up passing out. She doesn't realize she's using as much as she's using. didn't mean to offend or seem like I was trying to god mod or anything! ^_^ ) Damani sighed. "Listen, it's not as simple as that. What I just did to that dragon is the result of not being able to properly control my powers. I just throw my magic at things and I'm not even sure if I should be using my magic at all," she said, turning to him and shaking her head. "I'm sorry, I'd love to help protect the planet, but until I learn how to control these things that I do, I think I'd just end up hurting the other people that may be trying to achieve the same goal as me." "Honestly, I lost my freedom a long time ago when I died. I'm trapped in a body that's not mine looking for a sword that can withstand the strength of this body; I'm not even fully human now. My elbow creaks if I twist it the wrong way because the bones in that arm are metal!!" she said, looking at her right arm and flexing her fingers. She then looked up at him, a lost look in her eyes. "I have no idea what I'm dealing with. Maybe if I was still really alive, if I was still in my own body, I would, but when I can't even be sure if my heart is beating because it's supposed to or because a machine runs it... Well... How can I be sure of anything?"

Cal began to feel bad. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to get so angry. I know a guy," said Cal, beginning to smile "who lives here in town. He's a really, really, really old sage... he pretty much knows everything. He can tell you what to do about your new body, and might even be able to show you how to control some of your magic. I won't lie, he's no Alex, but he's definitely someone who can help. His name is Raistlin, and I believe he's been alive for almost 300 years now. He can do things like what you just did, with much more control, but he's kind of eccentric."
Cal looked at her, hoping she'd say yes. The sooner he could help her, and find Alex again, the sooner things would become much more advantageous to the both of them. He really wanted to help her, even though it would be difficult. Maybe Cal was beginning to become a little more considerate, or whatever you'd call it.

If she had been a cat, Damani's ears would have perked up in a flash. "Really?! You mean there are others like me?" her eyes lit up and she took a couple steps forward. Someone that might be able to help her at all was a miracle in itself. "Oh, even if he could just teach me how to control my powers a little bit! At least then I wouldn't have to worry about killing someone else accidently!"
((Sorry it's so short, I couldn't think of anything else to write.))

Cal laughed out loud. He didn't mean it in a cruel way... actually, quite the opposite. This wouldn't be the first time Raistlin helped someone with their power. When Cal first awoke from his coma, and began to use his powers, he'd killed several people. He'd apparently made their heads explode with his mind, a now disturbing thought to the hardened ex-mercenary. When Raistlin found him, he was holding two dead bodies in his arms and crying. It was the old sage who taught him to control his abilities, and even taught him how to use materia.
"Come on, Damani. Just follow me. Heck, Raistlin's the kinda guy who might even know where Alex or any other allies are. He's got this huge crystal ball, which you can get inside of, and watch the world around you. He's a bit strange, but if you get past his weirdness, he's probably one of the coolest people you'll meet." As he spoke to her, they walked through the streets toward the eccentric old man's house. Thankfully, the hermit never left. He considered his house "safe even when stupid white-haired lunatics get the bright idea to drop a meteor on top of it."
Cal looked at Damani and smiled. He'd begun to wonder what pain she'd gone through. He could sense the feeling of urgency that was pouring off of her in droves. He really wanted to help her, and he didn't know why. Hopefully, Raistlin would feel the same.
"Well, a few more blocks, and we'll be there. Why don't you tell me a bit about yourself... we have plenty of time to kill."

Damani nodded. "Call me Dezzy by the way, it was my nickname in my last life. Short for Destiny. That was my old name," she said, following him through the streets. Everything seemed quieter now that the dragon had been destroyed. Had the monsters been scared away by her show of power? "I grew up in Midgar up until Meteorfall, then I moved to Kalm where I worked in a restaurant, and was an assassin. After I met Sephiroth... Well, I went back to school, though I can't remember what I was going for..."
She looked up at the sky as she was walking. "I died while I was with Sephiroth. Someone attacked me and he couldn't protect me, unfortunately. Next thing I know I was waking up in a tank full of water with no memory about who I was. I learned everything I could possibly learn, including fighting and then I was let loose into the world. I met Alex in this very city, not far from where I was standing. I was very unstable back then... I pretty much freaked out at him and left. Only to run back into him in Gongaga. He received his Dark powers thanks to my Holy magic, which was the first time I ever used it. After that we went to my 'Father' to get the computer that was in my head removed. Now I'm free to use my magic... Unfortunately, Alex abandoned me without any notice in Fort Condor. I'm just searching for a new sword that's more suited for me than this thing," she touched the sword on her back. "My old one was far too light for the strength of this new body. This one isn't much better..."

"Hmmm..."
Of course, there were very few swords that could handle superior power. Only blades like his own, Cloud's, and even Sephiroth's could withstand the brutality that came with their usage. Unfortunately, Cal had most of his powers stripped from him, so now he'd have to work twice as hard to utilize his sword as it was intended. Maybe, if things worked out well, he could make her a sword (after all, he made his own). This would, however, take a resource of mythril and adamant, as well as some powerful magic.
"I'll tell you something, but you have to keep it a secret. A long time ago, after I awoke here, in Midgar, I had no recollection of my past. I had no idea i'd been genetically augmented to have many of the abilities of a SOLDIER while i was in a coma, possessing even quicker speed and high-tier psychic abilities. I went through town trying to find out who I was, but accidentally killed nearly twenty people. Eventually, I ran into Raistlin, who we're going to see now. For about three months, he trained me in the ways of magic and combat, and soon I was as well-versed in battle as a SOLDIER. During this time period, I learned the secrets of the forge and made this," Cal held out his weapon, letting it glisten in the light. "It's made out of an indestructable alloy of Adamant and Mythril, and it cuts any steel alloy in half. It can also withstand severe amounts of punishment, because while I was once about as strong as individuals like Vincent Valentine (who I knew while I was a Turk), I now cannot utilize this weapon's full potential. Anyway, after a few run-ins on several odd-jobs as a mercenary, Pryme stole my powers and I've been searching for a reason to continue fighting ever since. I will agree to make you a fine weapon, and you can stay with Raistlin for as long as you need to train. Hell, I'm pretty sure we can arrange anything else you might need Dezzy, just let me know. You've given me a reason to fight again, and for that I thank you.

Dezzy nodded. "That would be... great," she said, looking up at the sky as she walked. A meteor shower had just begun and she smiled. It had been a long time since she had seen one and been able to enjoy it. (I wonder if Alex is watching this, wherever he is...) she thought to herself stretching patiently and continuing to walk again. The wind had begun to blow softly, something that she had not felt in so long. It was comforting, to say the least.
((OOC: Whenever her training is partially done, she needs to head to Junon to meet up with Alex and Kaida, who has a sword for her. You're welcome to come with and join the rest of us!! I think Angeal will be joining us as well.))
